Job Description:
JOB-POSTING: Associate Pastor / Director of Worship and Administration

I. Church Description

Gospel Fellowship Community Church is a new non-denominational church plant started in Salt Lake City, Utah in 2007. The church began with 8 adults in a living room and has grown to about 75 in a totally decked-out (i.e. full coffee shop, relatively high-end multimedia system, etc.), renovated warehouse. Our church seeks to aggressively minister the Gospel with modern cultural relevancy while maintaining the fundamentals of solid, orthodox, Bible-based Evangelical Christian doctrine. We also seek to foster a safe and genuine worship environment where people are invited to come as they are without fear of being judged. We value genuine relationships and genuine discipleship, even though such authenticity is often messier than many religious people are comfortable with.

II. Position Description

As of November 15, 2010, we are seeking a full-time minster (job title will be “Pastor” for those with formal ministry training) who will be in charge of 1) leading a modern, loud, high-energy (i.e. New Life Worship, Gateway Worship, David Crowder Band, Kathryn Scott, Hillsong, Hillsong United, and the staff member’s original music) worship band with corresponding media applications each week at multiple services, 2) basic church administration and finance, 3) volunteer ministry coordination (of ministries such as small groups, children, and singles), and 4) occasionally preaching and teaching.

III. Start Date

The position is open until filled. We would like to make our selection and bring our new staff member on as soon as possible (even this year, if possible), but due to the large scale Easter effort we are planning, the absolute latest our new minister could arrive to begin his/her ministry would be April 12, 2010.

IV. Qualifications

College graduate with a degree in a relevant field (i.e. Bible, Theology, Ministry, Music, Administration, Accounting, Etc.), significant music, ministry, leadership experience. Seminary graduate would be a bonus. Candidate must be a non-Calvinist, affirm basic Evangelical tenets, affirm the Chicago Statement on Inerrancy and the Present-day ministry of the Holy Spirit. Commissioning/Ordination provided upon selection.

V. Our Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is one who has a vibrant walk with God, is a talented worship/band leader, loves the outdoors, politically conservative (i.e. pro-life, pro-traditional marriage), supportive of American troops (our pastor is a USAF Chaplain), has a pioneering evangelistic spirit, and is in tune with popular culture. He/she would also be a good administrator, detail-oriented, teachable, and willing to work within the pastor’s vision. Because we are a church plant, the ability to learn many new skills and be happy performing them is a must. Also, change is a constant at our church, so our new staff member must be able to roll with the punches.

VI. Compensation, Vacation, Etc.

Our new minister will, in the beginning, be compensated a total salary package (base plus benefits) of between $22,000 and $58,000 depending on education, experience, and musical ability. As the church grows, so will the salary devoted to this position (in the event that a candidate is to be offered employment, this future pay structure will be discussed before the candidate is asked to commit). In addition, the new staff member will receive 4 weeks per year paid time off, not including sick/bereavement time. In addition, the new staff member will be permitted two additional paid weeks off to attend training/enrichment conferences (at his/her own expense) relative to his/her duties at Gospel Fellowship.
