Job Description:
Position: Director of Technical Arts

Hours: Part-time (approximately 30 hours/wk), includes week-end services and special events

Accountable to: Director of Worship

•Recruit unpaid servants (volunteers) and teach them to use all audio and video (AV) equipment
•Oversee the Visual Arts, Visual and Audio Production Teams and Stage Crew
•Expand the Video Production ministry
•Coordinate schedule for all worship services (including special worship services and concerts)
•Schedule volunteers for all rehearsals and activities requiring AV support
•Maintain, repair and upgrade all equipment related to the AV Arts ministries at First UMC, including video production
•Provide technical assistance to the Director of Communications for website videos and podcasts
. Oversee the Technical Arts budget

Skill Requirements:
•Leadership skills must include the ability to:
Recruit, train, motivate and lead an AV ministries team
Communicate and build rapport with a diverse team of volunteers, church staff, team members, and volunteers
Work with and contribute to our overall church staff team

Work well and remain calm under pressure
Be creative
•Technical skills must include:
Expertise in current audio/visual technology – PC and Mac computers video cameras, sound, lighting and media
equipment (mixing consoles – Yamaha GA 32/12 mixer, Yamaha MG 32/14 mixer, 24/14 Dynacord Vector mixer; Alesis
Masterlink ML-9600)
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Windows and Mac operating software, video editing software, Worship Arts Media Software
(i.e., Media Shout, ProPresenter)
Capacity to troubleshoot/solve equipment and software issues
Capability to keep equipment in working order, including basic repair
Understanding of, and the ability to implement technology changes/upgrades
Working with Comcast for our weekly service tapings

Desired Education and Experience:
•Degree or certification in related field
•Experience in a church setting
•Proven track record of recruiting, equipping, training and leading an effective AV/computer volunteer team

Additional Responsibilities:
•Regional and national networking for sharing information, ideas, and strategic planning in technical worship arts
•Development of a personal plan for continuing growth/expertise in audio, visual, and video skills
•Attendance at weekly church staff meetings
•Other related duties as assigned

Salary and Benefits:
•This is a part-time, non-benefitted position
•Estimate 30 hours per week in support of four (week-end) worship services
•Salary range is $25,000 - $29,000, depending on education and experience
•Annual 2 week paid vacation
