Job Description:
Conducts religious worship and performs other spiritual functions associated with beliefs and practices of the Evangelical Free Church. Provides spiritual and moral guidance and assistance to members. Leads the congregation in worship services. Prepares and delivers sermons and other talks. Conducts wedding and funeral services. Administers religious ordinances. Visits sick and shut-ins, and helps the needy. Welcomes new members and visits visitors. Counsels those in spiritual need and comforts bereaved. Oversees religious education programs. May write articles for publication and engage in interfaith, community, civic, educational, and recreational activities sponsored by or related to the interest of the Community Free Church. May perform minor maintenance and janitorial tasks for Church facilities and grounds.

Maintains a visible, Biblical, servant-leadership style. Works with individuals and committees for their spiritual growth. Develops personal relationships with church leaders and potential leaders. Keeps a journal or diary for monitoring self spiritual growth and development. Works closely with Deacons and Elders in leading the congregation.

Teaches and preaches God’s word. Plans and completes worship themes, coordinated with the Worship Committee. Maintains sermon effectiveness by asking: Do the sermons meet pastoral goals? How do I know? Are the sermons pertinent to the worship goals of the Church? Maintains confidentiality in daily conversations. Sets and communicates spiritual goals for the congregation, in conjunction with the church Elders. Monitors church goals and assist individuals in attaining those goals.

Plans communion, baptism, alter call, infant dedications, welcoming new members, and other similar duties; incorporates these into the morning service. Maintains oversight of the Church Ministries committees: Facilities, Worship, Christian Education, Fellowship, Missions/Outreach, Finance. Meets with the Worship Committee weekly for coordinating the service.

Publishes and maintains daily office hours. Provides daily oversight and management of buildings and grounds. Manages one full-time staff (associate pastor for youth and worship) and part-time staff (volunteers). Manages and coordinates the Church prayer list. Coordinates regular visitation to the Church body. Develops a daytime visitation program (i.e., visitors, hospital visits, shut-ins, etc.). Maintains a time log or day planner for administrative duties.
