Beulah Alliance Church is a remarkable, thriving church located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. This multi-site church (three locations) describes their services as “seeker accessible” with their Saturday night option offering more “edgy” programming, including a healthy volume of close to 100 dB’s of high quality sound.
Creative arts are celebrated and embraced with genuine enthusiasm, and through music, visual media, drama and the intention to tell a great story, they are able to create an experience that surpasses the typical church. They’ve invested in audio, visual and lighting technology that is truly remarkable and have professional level technicians at the helm every weekend, stewarding these resources to facilitate the message and genuine worship experience. Talent is plentiful in all areas from point leadership (paid and volunteer) to those who volunteer on the various teams.
They are blessed with a stable of worship leaders (male and female) who bring different styles and strengths to the weekend, but many of the current worship & arts staff feel taxed to their limits under their current model. Musical styles are sometimes confusing because they are a bit of a moving target. Their “sweet spot” is an unknown, though clearly “contemporary.” Although ambition and skill have been present to develop an expansive ministry that attempts to accomplish “wow,” at the core of it all there lacks authenticity, originality and connectivity, especially to younger generations.
The primary challenge exists in taking the current resources of talented people and state-of-the-art technology and retooling the process/systems and end result/product on the weekend services so that it’s better aligned with the overall “ethos” of the senior leadership. Moving from a high production-oriented environment to a high impact worship experience is paramount for the future. Leveraging creativity, production and “excellence” as a means to a greater end, resulting in spiritual vibrancy and emotional impact (without being manipulative) is the aim.
This is a perfect opportunity for a high capacity leader with communication savvy and sophisticated artistry - not technically as much as emotionally. Someone with a deep sense of emotional intelligence and spiritual authenticity will thrive in this environment.
