The Associate Pastor of Evangelism and Missions is responsible for overseeing and implementing the church evangelism program, training volunteers and actively participating in the evangelism ministry to influence others for Christ and bring them into the church. This includes leading the effort to maintain a comprehensive missions program in the church, responsible for exploring mission opportunities, keeping the church informed regarding potential and ongoing mission involvement and serving as a liaison between the church and missionaries. This position will also have oversight of the education ministry but the primary focus will be evangelism, outreach and missions.
1.Follow up with visitors and prospects that have completed forms requesting prayer, asking questions about the ministry, indicating curiosity about salvation, etc.
2.Organize and assign visits to prospects.
3.Pray regularly for the evangelism ministry, for those who will be visited and for specific names of people needing salvation.
4.Provide training to those who become involved in the evangelism ministry.
a.Provide ongoing support and training materials as needed.
b.Plan a course or seminar at least yearly for training and reinforcement of evangelism methods and churches evangelism program. Teach what to do and what not to do, explore new opportunities, etc.
5.Plan, organize and oversee major evangelistic events: Fall Festival, revival, special seminars, Friend Day, etc.
6.Work with other ministry leaders to include an evangelistic emphasis in their special events: seasonal services, special drama or musical presentations, small groups, VBS, etc.
7.Research, survey and evaluate the church and community to determine what outreach ministries are most needed and if existing ministries are effective.
8.Develop new ministries as needed.
9.Obtain and supply materials needed for the outreach ministries.
10.Promote a positive image of the church in the community while reaching out to community members.
11.Oversee budget and expenditures for the outreach ministry.
12. Implement the Missions strategy for the church – including our adopted people group.
13.Organize the church’s efforts in supporting missions.
14.Research, locate, validate and follow up on mission projects, opportunities, needs within the local community as well as home and foreign mission fields.
15.Educate the church regarding missions, including planning a yearly mission’s awareness emphasis.
16.Act as a liaison with missionaries and organizations the church supports.
17. Oversee budget and expenditures for the Missions and Evangelism ministry.
18. Provide oversight for Education and Discipleship ministries.
19. Participate in staff meetings.
20. Participate in Hospital Visitation.
21. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
