Friendswood Community Church (FCC) believes that close spiritual relationships are essential for one to reach their full potential in Christ. The position carries this vision, passion, and ultimately the mantle for community and leadership development at FCC. Further, the position plays a vital role of organizing, resourcing and leading the small groups ministry (“Connections”) which is foundational in community as well as an individual’s journey of spiritual growth. Leadership, communications and teaching must be high in the Connections Pastor’s spiritual gifts.

• Raise up and equip gifted Connections Leaders and Community Leaders.

• Lead the effort of continually increasing the number of people assimilating into healthy small group life and
actively engaged in the ministries of FCC.

• Develop and foster a culture in Connections Groups where:

Friendships are genuine.
Care is mutually given.
Character of Christ is being developed.

• Resource the Connections Groups with quality Biblical curriculum.

• Administratively ensure that all appropriate records are established and maintained as necessary to
support a healthy Small Group ministry.

• Lead and develop church members to step into leadership roles in the church.

• Effectively develop and expand the leadership culture at FCC.

• Will work together with the entire staff in fulfilling the mission of FCC.
• Will whole heartedly support the Mission and Core Values of FCC.
• Will work to help and encourage fellow staff members.
• Will seek to build a culture of trust, encouragement, accountability, growth, and productivity among the staff.

• Must be a follower of Christ.
• Must be a strong leader.
• Must be a learner.
• Must be teachable.
• Must be committed to professional as well as spiritual growth.
• Must demonstrate a heart for the “lost.”
• Must be a person of highest integrity.
• Must be innovative.
• Must be a self-starter.
• Must have a passion for small groups ministry.

* The spiritual gifts of leadership, teaching, and administration.
* Excellent organizing and prioritizing skills to achieve results.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong interpersonal skills.

* Graduate of an accredited seminary or the equivalent experience.
* Minimum three years experience in a similar role at a church with minimum weekly attendance of 1500 people.
* Biblically-based, effective teaching to large congregations/gatherings.
* Demonstrated experience in successful organizational leadership and management, including
in areas of planning and budgeting.

The individual must:
• Be an active follower of Jesus Christ and on a continual journey to become a fully-devoted follower of Him.
• Function as part of the church staff team and member of FCC dedicated to Christian service.
At all times seek to conduct themselves in a God-honoring way, also reflective of FCC’s core values.
• Be able to keep appropriate information confidential, related to church operations;
including but not limited to, membership, financial records, correspondence, and pastoral counseling.
