Position Description

Title: Assistant Director of Music Ministries
Purpose: To develop and direct a dynamic, Christ-centered contemporary music ministry within the congregation of FPCB
Supervision: The Assistant Director of Music Ministries is under the direct supervision of the Director of Music Ministries. She/he is responsible to the Session through its Personnel Committee and Worship Committee.
Status: This is a full time exempt position with benefits.
Evaluation: An initial three month evaluation will be performed by the Director of Music Ministries, and performed annually thereafter.
Responsibilities for Worship: The Worship Leader plays an integral role in developing the spirit and movement of the worship service at First Presbyterian church of Burlingame. As the preaching pastor determines the goals and themes of the service, the worship leader works in partnership with the goal to lead the worshippers into the presence of God.
1. To provide musical direction for the Simply Spirit Worship Band at the “blended” worship service, and occasionally at special services and concerts during the Christian year.
2. To serve as worship leader at the ‘blended” service
3. To participate in the development of an evening, alternative worship service in conjunction with the Associate Pastor, The Director of Music Ministries and worship team, this team reports directly to the Worship Committee of the Church Session. To serve as Worship Leader for the evening alternative Worship service.
4. Develop and utilize an audiovisual ministry for all services including the Traditional, blended, alternative and seasonal. To coordinate with the AV Tech for all sound needs for these services.
5. To meet weekly with the Director of Music Ministries and various staff meetings as necessary.
6. To recruit for and develop musically the musicians in these two services.
7. To maintain a Christian and caring focus with the participants.
8. To prepare and provide music for all band members and singers.
9. To be a liaison with youth leaders, encouraging our youth musicians and looking for ways to use their talents.
The Assistant Director of Music Ministries is expected to:
a. Maintain confidentiality at all times.
b. Be supportive of FPCB and the church staff in all contacts with the church membership and the general public.
c. Perform other tasks as requested.
