Pastor of Spiritual Growth Ministry Description
Back Creek Church

Position Purpose:
The primary role of this ministry position will be the implantation of community groups into the life and culture of Back Creek Church. This individual will have the passion, giftedness, creativity and demonstrated experience to create and sustain healthy relationships and ministry environments, which develop fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
Goal: To create an atmosphere at Back Creek where people’s thoughts, feelings and actions are based on their response to Jesus Christ and our collective call to be His ambassadors in our neighborhood and the world.
Specific Responsibilities:
Community Groups: (Exercising the Heart of Spiritual Growth)
• Develop community groups, middle school and above.
• Recruit, train, motivate and resource leaders of these groups.
• Be chief advocate of this ministry throughout the congregation.
• Encourage groups to serve and care for others outside their group.
• Ensure ministry teams are healthy, mission-focused and God-led.
• Build & maintain close trusting relationships with key leaders and potential leaders throughout the congregation.

New Beginnings, Exploration Courses: (Exercising the Mind of Spiritual Growth)
• Develop & oversee a series of 4-6 week courses designed to broaden people’s minds and grow their devotion to Christ.
• Will occasionally teach some of these offerings and other classes

Pastoral Duties:
• Sharing with Lead Pastor in counseling, shepherding, hospital visitation
• Preaching 4 times per year, additional weeks as needed
• Lead connection ministry; helping new visitors move toward membership

Qualifications and Experience:
Expertise and love for community group ministry
- must view groups as a way of doing life rather than as “just a program”
- must have track record of developing healthy community groups
Proven Self Starter with ability to follow through without outside management
Grace-based philosophy of ministry
Proven Team Player with a humble and teachable spirit
Approachable, Trustworthy and Caring
Life-Long-Learner; avid Reader
Masters of Divinity Required
