Director of Equipping and Sending Ministries

Position: Full-time including Sunday responsibilities in an urban church

General Purpose: To invite and encourage the congregation of Edenton Street United Methodist Church to: (1) recognize their individual gifts and passions for ministry, (2) be equipped for leadership and service in specific ministries, and (3) be sent into the Church and the world to offer themselves in Spirit-led transformational ministries.

General Responsibilities:
• Ministry Development: Initiate, maintain and evaluate processes by which all members know their gifts and passions for ministry, are equipped to serve, and are matched with a ministry opportunities. (50%)
o Identification and selection of tools for gathering congregant information, maintaining data and assuring accountability by the ministry area.
o Develop and maintain an evolving list of ministry opportunities (in the church, the parish and the world), which have varying lengths and locations of service, and require various age and skill levels.
o Equip ministry teams and staff to know how to identify, equip and engage church members for ministry.

• Leadership Development: Initiate and coordinate on-going leadership training for current church leaders while intentionally seeking to identify and prepare future leaders for service in the church. (30%)
• Management: Performance management for 2-4 team members in assigned ministry and related administrative areas. (15%)
• Engage in other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor. (5%)

Requirements
• Strong personal commitment to Christ and to faith formation.
• Bachelor’s degree with 2-3 years of management experience and proven leadership experience, including supervisory skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience in:
o working in a cross-functional leadership team,
o developing, planning and implementing programs,
o training individuals and groups,
o giving and receiving feedback,
o evaluating programs and staff,
o helping individuals assimilate into groups,
o working with databases and computer program (knowledge of ACS would be helpful)
