Paramount Baptist Church is a friendly, family-oriented congregation in Amarillo, Texas. When we were founded 51 years ago, our campus was on the southwest edge of the city. Since then, Amarillo has continued to grow around us, and today we stand near the geographic and population center of our community. We have steadily grown into a church known as much for our international missions focus as for our vibrant ministries to children, youth, families, and even senior adults. Dr. Gil Lain has been Senior Pastor of Paramount Baptist Church since 1991, and is only the third pastor in our church’s history.
The primary responsibility of this position is to oversee and coordinate the church’s ministry to those in the seventh through twelfth grade. This individual should be relationship oriented, creative and fun-loving. This person should have strong communication skills as well as the ability to recruit, lead and empower volunteers.
Our church is in the process of implementing the "Orange" philosophy of ministry. This philosophy is an attempt to leverage the two most powerful entities ever created, the church and the family. (If you let yellow [the color of light] represent the church and red [the color of warmth] represent the family, you end up with orange.) The essence of this philosophy is that the training of children (preschool-youth) to follow Christ is mainly a parental responsibility, while the church takes on the primary responsibility of equipping the parents. It will be essential for potential candidates to be familiar with, if not already practicing, this philosophy of ministry.
