Centennial Road Church in Brockville, Ontario is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Pastor of Worship Arts. The successful candidate will direct and oversee worship with a particular focus on Sunday morning ministry and seasonal special events. He or she will join a dynamic team of people committed to bringing people into God’s Kingdom. The ideal candidate will be a leader of leaders, overseeing multiple ministry teams (including various praise bands, choir, orchestra, ensembles, drama, and audio/visual teams). Strong leadership and communication skills are necessary to enable this person to identify, recruit, train, and release others to use their giftedness. The ability to work in a multiple staff setting, coach paid and lay staff, and be a “team player” is vital.

The Pastor of Worship Arts needs to create and lead worship experiences that appeal to new generations of believers and be familiar with current trends in music while also connecting and respecting the preferences of older attendees resulting in a blended worship service, while recognizing that worship is primary and performance is secondary.

This individual must demonstrate planning and organizational ability, creativity and innovation, a “can do” attitude, and have a winning personality. Christmas, Easter, and other seasonal events and productions provide opportunities for outreach coordinated by this leader.

Personal Relationship with Christ: The Pastor of Worship Arts must have a mature, growing relationship with Jesus Christ. He or she must have knowledge of the Word of God and be able to apply the Spiritual gifts given by the Lord. He or she must exhibit a passion for God and a Christ-like spirit as evidenced in his or her personal life, family relationships, and his/her ministry.

Professional Education and Experience: The ideal candidate will have two to five years experience in Worship leadership in a large church setting. He or she shall be a college graduate. Graduate and/or professional continuing education in worship and music ministry is preferred.

Technical Skills: The Pastor of Worship Arts will have the ability to generate innovative forms of worship for a multi-generational congregation, and is required to possess proven experience of integrating music, drama, computer, video, sound, and lighting system technologies into the worship experience. The ability to play guitar and/or keyboard and vocal skills are preferred.

Organizational Skills: The Pastor of Worship Arts will have an ability to envision and develop worship objectives into achievable goals. He or she will identify, train, and motivate volunteers for the Worship Ministries and will responsible for development, scheduling, supervision, and implementation of this ministry. He or she will participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings; participate in supervision or mentoring by Lead Pastor. He or she will also be involved in the process of planning communication with the church and community through the use of bulletin, website, print advertising and other channels. He or she will be responsible for submitting and monitoring the annual music and worship budget.

Interpersonal Skills: The Pastor of Worship Arts must have strong interpersonal communication skills. He or she needs the ability to relate well with people, to make decisions and delegate responsibilities to others, and work effectively with a dynamic team of paid staff and volunteers. The ideal candidate needs an attitude of other-centeredness and the ability to graciously express leadership.

Confidentiality: The Pastor of Worship Arts must exemplify an ability to maintain confidentiality and handle delicate situations with discretion and insight.

This position reports directly to the Lead Pastor.

Compensation: This is a full-time position with pay commensurate with experience, education, and responsibility. We offer a competitive salary and denominational benefits package.
