Job Description:
St. John’s of Cullman, AL is seeking a Minister of Music and Worship Arts who understands and appreciates the variety of ways God can be worshipped vocally, instrumentally, and through other artistic mediums. We are seeking to call an individual who can provide creative leadership within the context of the church’s ministry and who will provide direction and guidance for multiple worship styles and experiences.
To provide an environment for people, young and old, to worship the Lord through music and other artistic expressions. To share open fellowship with one another and be good stewards of the gifts God has provided.

Position Description
• Envision, direct, and oversee the music ministry, working with the staff and members of all ages to lead God-glorifying worship. This includes collaborating with the ministerial staff to coordinate the various worship services of St. John’s.
• Work within existing programming, including Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings, as well as using personal gifting and interests to innovatively explore and create other opportunities for discipleship, fellowship, service, and worship for adults and children.
• Lead various styles of music for worship services, including multiple vocal groups and instrumental ensembles for both traditional and contemporary settings.
• Develop relationships with member of the congregation to educate them about and disciple them through participation in worship arts.
• Assist in pastoral responsibilities with those participating in worship ministries and with others as necessary, including the coordination of weddings and funerals for the congregation.
• Encourage members of the congregation through various artistic ministries to reach out to the wider community.
• Oversee paid and volunteer musicians, as well as the technical ministry.
• Report to the Senior Pastor (or equivalent) and provide updates for the church council. Work with personnel committee as requested.

• Faith: A mature commitment to Christ demonstrated through life and testimony; a demonstrable passion for and calling to ministry; an understanding of the personality, theological heritage, and call of St. John’s.
• Skills: Organizational and communication skills, along with leadership (delegation, facilitation, and recruiting) and teaching abilities.
• Personal: Pro-active, creative, goal-oriented, patient, kind, encouraging, and positive; lover of music and the variety of ways God can be glorified.
• Experience: Six years experience in choral and church music administration preferred.
• Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in music required. Formal liturgical training preferred.

An hour north of Birmingham and an hour south of Huntsville, Cullman, is a growing community that cherishes its small-town atmosphere. Historically an agricultural community, there is a strong and growing industrial sector. In this context economic variations of wealth and poverty can be found. The city boasts of a wonderful school system, while several opportunities for Christian education exist as well. Home to Wallace State Community College, several universities and Beeson Divinity School are also within commuting distance. Opportunities for lovers of the arts and athletics abound.
