Job Description:
Batavia Covenant Church
Worship Leader in Contemporary and Blended Worship Services

Vision and Objective:
To be the lead worshipper in a community seeking to grow and develop hearts for worshipping God in spirit and truth using a broad range of music, creative elements, and the spiritual giftedness of individuals within the church.

Life with God
• Be in a committed relationship with Jesus Christ.
• Be committed to God’s church, equipping those in the church for spiritual growth and service.
• Relate with Christians and non-Christians in a loving way consistent with scripture.

Worship Preparation and Leadership
• Create and integrate worship sets into contemporary and blended worship services.
• Be the lead musician for Sunday morning worship (i.e. through voice, guitar, or piano, etc).
• Be skilled at selecting and arranging individual worship songs and worship music sets to bring people into the worship of God. (The 9AM service seeks to use newer worship music within that “rock worship” feel. We regularly use songs by artists Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, Hillsong, Jeremy Camp, and David Crowder).
• Find and teach new music in the 9AM service.
• Lead music in the 10:35AM service as we introduce new music into a traditional service.
• Create an inviting worship atmosphere through music leading, transitions between songs, and empowering others to lead within their giftedness.
• Selection, preparation and timely distribution of music to worship team participants.
• Develop and recruit people to use their musical gifts for Sunday worship.
• Setup, facilitate and lead efficient rehearsals in preparation for worship events.
• Ensure Sunday logistics and details are fully prepared (order of service, production notes, audio and visual elements, and people in place for sound and projector).
• Maintain up to date team schedules.
• Be in partnership with pastoral staff as we all care for the spiritual and personal lives of team members.

Staff Responsibilities
• Maintain healthy working and personal relationships with all church staff: getting help when needed, confronting when necessary, and protecting reputations.
• Be accountable to the Senior Pastor
• Participate in Weekly Staff Meetings. (Negotiable, based on your daily schedule)
• Ensure that your work habits lead to the success and low anxiety of others on staff. (i.e. getting work completed on time and in a way that is helpful to others.)

Time Commitment: Part Time (12-24 Hours a Week)
Salary: Based on Experience and Time Commitment
