Job Description:
Messiah United Methodist Church is seeking a director of young adult ministries. This person will be responsible for leading the community of single and married young adults in this 1000 member and growing church. Applicants should have an understanding of young adult culture and a proven track record evidencing excellent leadership, administrative, communication and team- building skills and a passion for outreach is essential. This position is part-time (averaging 20 hours/week) with benefits. Potential exists for this to grow into a full time position. Director of Young Adult Ministry

1. Baccalaureate degree required, divinity degree (or equivalent graduate degree) preferred.
2. Leadership experience in Christian environment
3. Ability to understand and relate to young adults, both single and married.
4. Proficient with technology, the Internet, and online social networking.
5. Ability to design and implement programs targeted at young adults.
6. Proven success working in a team environment.

The Director of Young Adult Ministry will provide for ministry programming for young adults (“young adults” as a ministry category is assumed to comprise singles and young married couples in their 20’s/30’s), and give direction to young adult ministry with the following specific responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement a plan for the Young Adult ministry.
2. Build strong relationships with young adults, especially leaders.
3. Guide and empower the 20/30 Vision Team in its ministries of planning and caring for the young adult ministry
4. Form and support young adult small groups.
5. Invite and create opportunities for young adults to participate in worship, small groups, and service/mission
6. Develop and implement strategies for reaching young adults not currently involved in the young adult ministry.
7. Provide leadership training for young adults.
8. Collaborate with other ministry leaders and staff to grow a vital family ministry.
