Job Description:
Lincoln Park United Methodist Church seeks a part-time (20 hr/week) administrative assistant to provide general clerical, reception and project based work for the pastor and church functions. The incumbent will serve as a helpful and caring
resource to interface with the community, congregation and pastor, and maintain confidentiality in all private matters. This position consists of mostly sedentary work with some light lifting. The administrative assistant reports to the Staff Parish Relations Committee and is supervised by the pastor.


  • Answer telephone calls directed to the church office

  • Review and prioritize telephone messages and mail

  • Maintain pastor's appointment calendar

  • Maintain church calendar

  • Maintain hard copy and electronic filing systems

  • Perform general clerical duties including but not limited to: photocopying, faxing, mailing,
    filing, and drafting pastor correspondences

  • Sign for and distribute packages and mail

  • Research, price and purchase office supplies

  • Coordinate and maintain records for office equipment

  • Set-up and coordinate meetings and conferences for the pastor

  • Prepare weekly worship bulleting and church announcements

  • Support the pastor in assigned project based work

  • Other duties as requested


  • High school diploma required (bachelor's degree preferred)

  • Three years experience as an administrative assistant

  • Working knowledge of standard office equipment, including copiers, phone, and fax

  • Proficient knowledge of computers and software programs, including Microsoft Word,
    PowerPoint, Excel, database systems and use of the Internet

  • Must possess a helpful, cheerful, diplomatic and caring attitude

  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills

  • Knowledge of UM Gateway software preferred
