Job Description:
Valley Church
Creative Arts Director

Valley Church is a five year old church plant that has grown from 60 people to a weekly attendance of more than 900. We reach the unchurched people of the Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia. Our mission statement is that we are a "church for imperfect people." Our creative environment takes into account the types of music, experience, culture, and media that unchurched people are gravitating toward. We make creative decisions based on knowing the culture around us. For example, we don't sing a worship song because it's popular...we sing it because it fits with our rock/guitar driven sound. We'll often open our gatherings with a mainstream song by Mayer, U2, Kings of Leon, Dylan, Sugarland, Matchbox Twenty, etc. Our stage design is diverse, doesn't follow the sermon series (that's corny), changes every four months, and is planned out well in advance. Our lighting system incorporates DMX controlled LED and intelligent lighting, we are mac-based and run three projectors using ProPresenter software in our main gathering.

We're looking for a Creative Arts Director who can oversee the development and execution of graphic design, lighting, stage design, video production/editing, short motion-based bumpers for transitions, and web site management (web design skills not necessary, but a plus). This person should come in to this position with at least a year of experience working with DMX controlled lighting, Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, Final Cut, and should be able to provide a portfolio of past work with these technologies. Having a musical background is a plus, but not necessary.

We are looking for this person to take our current Creative Arts program to the next level. This person should be able to look at other creative venues that are more advanced than our current program and assimilate new ideas into a fresh vision for our program. So we need you to have a firm grasp on the above skills and software.

This position is a Senior Leadership position and reports directly to the Lead Pastor.

Since this is a creative and highly visual position, please market yourself in a creative and visual way. Resumes are nice, but a multimedia portfolio with high quality samples that we can access online shows that you are already getting what we're laying down. Please do not respond directly to this ad, instead, please send all materials/inquiries to larryrising@gmail.com.

Here's a creative arts job description that may change slightly, but it should give you a cohesive idea of what you'd be doing on a daily basis.
