Job Description:
We have a great team working together in a growing church but we’re missing a key player. Are you that person? We’re looking for an experienced Community and Care Pastor to maximize our commitment to serve our geographical community, help new Christ followers establish firm foundations, and integrate new people into our faith community.

Who we are:
• Attendance is 1350-1500 (including children) in two services
• Worship style is contemporary
• Located in Toledo, Ohio with Lake Erie boating and fishing within a 20 minute drive, lots of lakes just over the border in southeast Michigan, great Metropark system for biking and outdoor activities, a world class zoo and art museum (if you have kids or still enjoy being like one), and America’s premier roller coaster amusement park, Cedar Point, just an hour away!

What we are trusting God for:
The Pastor of Community and Care will be responsible for the leadership and oversight and to identify, recruit, train and coach the leaders of small groups and midsized communities. He will also monitor and ensure the pastoral care of the body at Westgate Chapel.

Responsibilities:
Groups
• Help develop and implement the purpose and philosophy of small groups and midsized communities within our ministry.
• Provide a strategic plan for the immediate and future growth of small groups and midsized communities, with the goal of having every member of our church body participate.
• Identify, recruit and align leaders for small groups and midsized communities along with providing the initial and ongoing training for leaders and leadership teams.
• Facilitating the spiritual and numerical growth of small groups and midsized communities.
• Oversee the promotion and administration of small groups and midsized communities.
• Develop a tracking system to monitor small groups and communities that keeps track of growth and health.
• Work closely with the Pastor of Assimilation to develop efficient and effective onramps for small groups and midsized communities.
• Accept financial oversight and responsibility for the activities and programs.

Care
• Facilitate the pastoral care of the church body through the members and leaders.
• Implement a philosophy, strategy and method of pastoral care for our body that is primarily met through small groups and midsized communities.
• Ensure that primary care is happening throughout the body by the body (elders, leaders, etc.).
• Help engage the elders in the significance and role of pastoral care.

Minimum Qualifications:
Spiritual
• Is a born-again Spirit-filled believer through faith in Jesus Christ, having made a personal profession of faith in Jesus Christ and has evidence of God’s call to small groups and midsized communities and care.
• Fulfill the biblical qualifications for church leadership with a pastoral shepherding heart (1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9).
• Has genuine warmth and care for people that is reciprocated as people enjoy being around him.
• This position demands that the individual be competent in providing spiritual, emotional and relational care to the volunteer leadership of this ministry. This includes general pastoral duties, counseling, and being a resource for ideas.
• Has a high level of energy, yet balances long hours with the time he needs for his own walk with God, appropriate time for his family, and personal time for refreshment and diversion.
• Is missions-minded for the Lord's work through Westgate Chapel to reach our entire region and the whole world.
• Spiritually mature and able to live a positive Christian lifestyle in accordance with WGC policies and procedures as stated in employee handbook and agree completely with Westgate Chapel’s Mission, Vision, Values, Bylaws and Doctrinal Statement.

Professional:
• Possess proven leadership experience with the ability to design, develop and manage an effective leadership team and build a vibrant and growing ministry.
• Ability to inspire and motivate people: to cast a vision with a contagious enthusiasm while working collaboratively with various teams.
• A four-year college degree or equivalent experience; preferably a seminary degree or masters in management/leadership.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with attention to detail.
• Must possess strong communication and writing skills.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Must meet licensing requirements of the Christian and Missionary Alliance.

Personal:
• Consistently exhibits the Fruit of the Spirit (Galations 5:22-23).
• Is open to change, has a teachable spirit, wants to improve, grow and likes to work collaboratively.
• Must faithfully attend WGC services, events and activities.
• Possess a high degree of intellectual flexibility.
• Demonstrate that he is emotionally healthy.
• All candidates must be able to prove eligibility to work in the United States.
