Job Description:
• The Student Pastor’s primary responsibility is the overall vision, direction and implementation of all the ministries from 6-12th grade, which also includes equipping, empowering and resourcing the parents.

• The Student Pastor is accountable and reports to the Senior Pastor.

1. Education and Experience
• Graduated from an Accredited College/University
• Preferred: Bible and/or Seminary training
• Previously led or on the staff of a Student Ministry of 150+ students
• 4-5 Years of ministry experience (Church or Para church)

2. Communication
• Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with Parents and Youth in written and oral form
• Able to determine what information to share with whom; maintain confidentiality appropriately

3. Confidence
• Thinks on his feet
• Self motivated and self starter…identifies needs and opportunities and takes responsibility
• Confident and humble enough to handle strong personalities
• Teachable and submitted to those in authority

4. Leadership
• Preferred Spiritual Gifts: Leadership, Administration, Teaching
• Strong Character and Integrity…to be above reproach
• Ability to Lead Up
• Ability to hear and understand conflicting needs/interests/opinions and to make the right choice; able to build commitment through consensus-building and conflict management
• Ability to manage and motivate volunteers and staff
• Has a sense of humor, tender-hearted and thick-skinned
• Takes criticism constructively

• Aware of various issues in Middle & High School Ministries and proactively resolves them before they become grievances

• Counsel and coach parents and teens

7. Management
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities
• Ability to delegate to the right person the appropriate level of responsibility
• Able to effectively manage direct reports differently, ensuring talents are used and members are accountable for their goals and mistakes (can support, advise and lead others)
• Understands budgeting; is willing and able to make the hard calls to allocate resources in accordance with mission and strategy
• Ability to manage budgets and hold team members accountable for achieving results within budget
• Ability to recruit, train and shepherd volunteers
• Ability to lead implementation and follow-through in a way that builds team

• Cast and implement clear vision and values that align with those of the church
• Teach biblically sound and culturally relevant messages
• Connect with students at school, games (sports) and activities
• Participate in collaboration with the staff
• Lead, coach and mentor part-time or volunteer staff in Student Ministries
• Identify and oversee the implementation of missional living opportunities in Student Ministries
• Responsible for keeping families on the strategic radar screen—especially with regard to parents being intentional at home
• Recruit, train and empower adult and student volunteers to serve in Middle & High School Ministries
• Develop and oversee the budgets for Middle & High School Ministries
• Provide resources and training for Parents of Teenagers
• Provide biblical counsel to individuals and families
• Coordinate and Partner with Children’s Director on a cohesive transitional experience (5th-6th grade) for kids and their parents

Initial Areas of Focus
• Connect and build trust with students and parents
• Develop a strong healthy ministry identity
• Determine ongoing priorities and objectives for the Student Ministry
• Work collaboratively with Children’s ministry staff to design and implement a cohesive plan for Birth thru High School ministries
