Position Description: The High School Pastor oversees all aspects of ministry on behalf of High School Students, in partnership with their parents, where they have the opportunity to grow and mature relationally and spiritually through creative, dynamic, and relevant communication of the gospel. By necessity, the High School Pastor must be a team builder and mentor to volunteers and students, as well as a team player with Northwoods leadership and staff.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
1. Ministry Development
A. Vision: Cast vision, plan, and execute ministry with volunteer teams, as well as care for them.
B. Recruit: Identify, recruit, and equip volunteers for High School ministry through orientation and ongoing equipping.
C. Strategy: Implement the Northwoods Spiritual Growth strategy (E4) in a relevant way for high school students. Create community within volunteer teams and among students through small groups.
D. Teach: Develop and oversee a teaching ministry.
E. Planning: Establish a comprehensive annual ministry plan that incorporates the E4 strategy.
F. Relationships: Build relationships with high school students and leaders in the high school ministry.
G. Service Projects: Oversee regular service projects and mission trips for high school students.
H. Work jointly: Partner closely with the Middle School Pastor for ministry effectiveness. Work jointly with other ministries of NWCC, youth functions of the Fellowship of Evangelical Church (F.E.C.) conference, and other Peoria area student oriented Christian ministries.
I. Relevancy: Awareness of current trends in student culture and Youth Ministry.
J. Family: Partner with parents by providing effective resources to assist them as they raise their student.
A. Budget: Propose and manage an approved budget throughout the year.
B. Communication: Ensure that all communication forms of the ministry are timely, accurate and attractive.
C. Web page: Ensure that the High School web page is current.
D. Facility: Practice good stewardship of facility space and all related equipment.
A. Pursue Ministerial Credentialing through F.E.C.
B. Pastoral Staff Participation: Serve as Pastor-on-call (rotational), hospital visitations, baptisms, communion, counseling, officiate funerals, and weddings.
C. Other: Various other duties as requested.
4. Church Staff
A. Participate as a team member of the Northwoods Staff.
B. Attend staff meetings for church wide communication.
C. Communicate with other Ministry Pastors/Directors as necessary.
Interaction with Others
The High School Pastor will regularly meet with the A Zone Team (Birth through High School), the Student Ministry Staff, and the High School volunteers.

College degree, preferably Bible College, and/or theological training
Ideally, the candidate will have 3-5 years experience in a large church of 1,000, or more
