Our non-denominational church has grown 25% in the last year, to more than 1600 in weekend attendance. In 2008 our church was recognized by Outreach Magazine as one of the top 50 fastest growing churches in the U.S.! Moreover, we have outgrown our existing location! We are in the process of obtaining land and building a new facility to expand and grow this ministry. POSITION TITLE: WORSHIP PASTOR
LOCATION: PENNSYLVANIA

To honor God by reaching people with the Good News of Jesus Christ and teaching them to become fully devoted followers of Him.
NATURE OF THE POSITION:
The Worship Pastor is responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of an excellent high-impact worship experience at Grace Community Church. This position requires an individual to possess exceptional vocal talent and a deep understanding of music and its relationship to worship. The ability to play a musical instrument is preferred but not required. This person must display the ability to lead Grace Community in worship by commanding their attention and leading them into a meaningful worship experience. In addition to leading worship, this person must have the capability to oversee the other worship leaders, administrative assistants and interns on a weekly basis. This person must be able to contribute fresh ideas to worship service planning and manage the details required to implement the plan. Implementation will require the ability to lead and/or assist the musicians, volunteers and technical teams to effectively produce a great worship ministry. The worship pastor will work in tandem with the executive pastoral staff to constantly evaluate, refine, and create a worship program characterized by creativity, unity, and sensitivity to the style and flavor of the Grace Community Church worship environment.
JOB DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities may include but not be limited to the following items:
This is a pastoral position and requires someone with a pastor’s heart and calling for ministry
Manage all details related to the musical development and production of GCC worship services and other GCC-sponsored projects
Recruit and audition instrumentalists and vocalists with the goal of building great worship teams
Lead musicians and vocalists during rehearsals and performances to maximize performance
Be prepared to perform all assigned music in a timely and professional manner
Assist in the creative planning and development of worship services and other GCC programs.
Find new music that fits the worship theme and format
Consistently contribute fresh ideas, think out of the box, and display diverse worship styles that creatively connect with the worship audience
Create detailed worship service scripts for musicians and technical staff
Oversee the production and implementation of creative elements such as drama, video, props, etc. that enhance the worship service message
Communicate with necessary staff, contractors, and volunteers (i.e. sound, lighting, staging, ushers, etc.) in order to successfully implement all production requirements
Provide excellent on-stage talent that appropriately creates the desired worship environment. This requires the worship pastor to possess exceptional skills as a public speaker, vocalist, and potentially as an instrumentalist
Display the flexibility to work with the GCC Pastoral Team and the Worship Staff in defining and implementing an effective organizational structure for a growing worship ministry with potential multiple services
Assist other GCC ministries with worship, creative, and/or musical requests
Perform any and all duties assigned by Lead Pastor
Authority: this position will sit on the Executive team and is considered a part of the pastoral staff. The Worship Pastor is in charge of the Worship department, supervises worship ministry administrative assistant and interns.
Work schedule: usually Tuesday through Friday with Monday being a day off. Services are Saturday at 6:00 p.m.; Sunday at 8:30, 10:00 & 11:30 a.m.; Staff Meetings are held each Tuesday and attendance is required. Other staff development meetings are scheduled throughout the year and attendance is required. Within reasonable limits, pastors have great flexibility in their schedule. Again, if micromanagement or accountability boundaries become an issue, this will not be a fit
Dress: This church is a relaxed, casual place to work. A normal workday is casual. Jeans are allowed. The expectation from the pastor is that if the meeting, event, service, etc. requires a specific type of dress, the pastor has the ministerial experience to determine what is appropriate

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
At least 3 years experience leading a worship ministry in a church of 1000+
Experience in a multi-staff, multi-service environment
Experience building, leading, and equipping staff and multiple volunteers
Strong desire to reach the unchurched/dechurched
Married, cultivating a strong marriage and team-approach to ministry with mate
An excellent role model to students and adults alike
A desire to serve and live in the northeast
Minimum High School diploma or above, exceptional music talent, formal music training and ministry degree is preferred but not required if the applicant’s ministry experience and life experience are sufficient
Solo quality vocalist
Read music (preferred)
Instrumentalist (preferred)
On-stage primary worship leader experience
Excellent on-stage communication skills
Ability to creatively plan and implement worship services
Display natural leadership skills
A history of ongoing personal and professional development
Candidate must fully agree with the doctrine, teaching, and mission, values, and culture statement of the church and Lead Pastor (details available in the interview process)
A pastor with the willingness and ability to grow, reflecting the heart attitude of Jesus
A pastor with a heart for people, and most certainly worship ministry
A pastor with integrity (the courage to meet the demands of reality), high moral values and a genuine call from God to this church family and position via a heart connection and not out of compliance to a “job”

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from youth, parents, staff or congregation
The ability to work efficiently and effectively in team situations is critical, as well as the ability to work independently
Must possess solid time management skills and organizational abilities
The ability to coordinate several activities at once and to quickly analyze and resolve specific problems is important
The ideal candidate should be creative, be high energy, hard working with a healthy and within reason “do whatever it takes” work ethic, and possess the ability to motivate others
