Job Description:
Lake Travis United Methodist Church seeks to hire a part-time Contemporary Worship Leader for our 9:40 Contemporary service called “The Edge”. This contemporary service started one year ago and can be described as blended. The praise band plays the latest cutting-edge worship music including Hillsong, Gateway Worship, Chris Tomlin, etc. We use contemporary music, graphics and video, blended with some traditional elements in our service.

Currently we worship in our 500 seat sanctuary while we build our new Ministry Activity Center (currently under construction with a completion date in November of this year), which will have a stage with world class audio, lighting, and video. The new space will have a capacity up to 800 and a more contemporary feel. Currently the service runs less than 100, but is expected to grow. We are located in the fast growing area of Lakeway with a beautiful campus.

The Contemporary Worship Leader will report directly to the Senior Pastor.

Responsibilities include . . .
-Leading the music portion of the contemporary worship service
-Rehearsing the band at least once a week
-Picking worship songs for Sunday mornings
-Scheduling the band and updating set lists on Planningcenteronline.com
-Organizing/Influencing decisions for special events such as outreach concerts, and onsite concerts.
-Attending weekly worship design meeting and staff meeting.

A successful candidate should . . .
-Have strong singing abilities (leading from guitar is preferred)
-Have strong leadership skills
-Be well versed in the trends of contemporary worship and music
-Be organized
-Be able to collaborate well with others
-Have previous experience leading a contemporary worship band
-Be able to train vocalists to sing parts
-Be able to advance the skills of an all volunteer band and vocal team.
-Have some computer skills
-Formal training in music is preferred but not required.

To be considered for the position, please email your resume and a link to where we can hear/see your demo reel, and/or website to jobs@ltumc.org. If chosen as one of the finalists we may bring you in to rehearse the band and lead worship for a Sunday to see your skills in action.
