Job Description:
The candidate for Organist/Choirmaster must be an individual with a strong, mature Christian faith, a desire for continued growth in that faith, and one who works towards furthering the gospel of Jesus Christ in general and helping fulfill Covenant Life Church’s mission statement specifically.

He/she should have at least an Associate’s degree in music, working towards one, or a recognized certificate in Music, or professional musical experience that might include band/orchestra directing, choral conducting, music arranging, and live performing. This candidate must have a firm understanding of general music theory. He/she needs to play organ and piano proficiently, and able to read music. He will be able to comfortably instruct one-on-one with individuals as well as a group. Vocal skills would be a plus.

The primary role of this candidate will be to assist in and eventually take over the musical leadership of the traditional worship service. Duties will entail choral conducting, organ accompaniment for congregational worship, seeing to the needs of any orchestral musicians, and directing all rehearsals of choir and orchestra. This candidate must be highly motivated and posses strong organizational skills. He will also work with the Music Director in coordination of the week-to-week worship of the service. This person will also make himself available to occasionally assist on keyboards in the contemporary services as needed, plus the occasional “non-worship service” church events that Music Ministries support throughout the year i.e. Women’s Ministries events, Men’s Ministries events, Student’s events, Christmas, Easter, etc. He will possess general computer skills and familiarity, able to work with or learn Sibelius Notation software, and able to chart songs for choir or orchestra as needed.
