JOB DESCRIPTION / DUTIES:
Position Summary
The Worship Pastor plans and leads worship experiences designed to encourage participants to draw closer to God and to express love for God by raising one voice in passionate, transparent, and authentic God-pleasing corporate worship. The Worship Pastor holds responsibility for worship across all age groups.

Position Responsibilities
• Plan, organize, and cause to be carried out all musical, technological, administrative, and creative elements related to worship ministry
• Design worship experiences meant to usher participants into the presence of God, offer, and equip them with ways to express their adoration, and lead them in corporate expressions of worship
• Lead, organize, rehearse, and equip the vocal, instrumental, and other creative teams for corporate and student worship gatherings. This includes providing leadership in the regular recruiting, developing, equipping, training, scheduling, and motivating of volunteer team members and leaders
• Lead the corporate worship gathering planning process to craft an engaging order of worship elements (e.g., prayer, music, drama, creative arts, scripture reading, testimonies, presentational music, etc.) in support of the primary text, topic, and practical application for the gathering. Assist with the student worship gathering planning process
• Maintain an overall repertoire of songs that lend themselves to full participation in singing with appropriate consideration to range, rhythm, complexity, familiarity, etc. Introduce new songs into the repertoire with intentionality, taking care to teach the congregation and bring them along when new songs are introduced
• Make use of strong interpersonal skills to lead and build relationships with worship team members as well as the congregation. Create goal ownership and a sense of shared purpose among team members through leading by example and involving others in the decision-making process
• In conjunction with other pastoral staff, pastor the body by coming alongside and comforting people in the midst of spiritual and personal crisis
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
• Exhibits a passion for God and a Christ-like spirit. Spiritually mature. Nurtures personal faith through the ongoing practice of spiritual disciplines
• Holds to the Statement of Faith and supports the Mission and Vision of the Church (available from MinisterSearch)
• Understands the Scriptures and can communicate and teach them through worship. Able to assess theological soundness of song lyrics
• Able to lead with strength and confidence vocally in order to draw others into worship.
• Skilled instrumentally with guitar or keyboard
• Able to read chord charts and conventionally scored music. Able to arrange music
• Maintains multi-generational and multi-cultural awareness in shaping worship experience, using multiple genres in planning worship. Able to engage with people from a wide variety of musical interests
• Able to create a following to influence and lead others
• Proficient in audio, video, and media technologies with the ability to oversee technical teams and equipment
• Proven team building skills, demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, and lead multiple teams of volunteers. Able to equip and delegate
• Responsible. Self-directed and willing to take direction
• Strong verbal communication skills and articulate in a large public setting. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
• Models a team-minded spirit that is flexible, friendly, approachable, and honest. Deals with conflict directly, openly, honestly, and graciously. Simultaneously gentle, kind, and firm enough to lead
• Able to establish effective working relationships with many different people. Able to work under stress and cope with multiple and varied issues
• Possesses solid time management skills and organizational abilities. Able to coordinate several activities at once and to quickly analyze and resolve specific problems
• Uses sound judgment. Accurately assesses probable consequences of actions for self and groups, has the ability to make solid decisions based on assessment of facts
