New Position Description:
The Pastor will develop a progressive ministry approach that will guide people through relationship, health, financial and other life situations or losses that may stall or inhibit their spiritual growth.
ACCOUNTABILITY: The Pastor of Caring Ministries shall be directly accountable to the Senior Pastor for spiritual / ministry responsibilities and to the Executive Director for performance management, administrative and budget- related responsib ilities.
MANAGEMENT: The Pastor of Care Ministries shall be a voting member of the Executive Ministry Council and shall manage all ministries related to the care and recovery of the body of Christ at FCCH.
To develop a long term plan that identifies and addresses significant areas of relationship, health, financial and other life difficulties or losses that may stall or inhibit the spiritual growth of people in FCCH’s congregation
To provide a plan or orderly process to connect FCCH people with opportunities for recovery and restoration that are provided by FCCH and takes place within the body of Christ and those taking place outside the church (counseling, legal aid, social services, support groups and evaluation services)
To identify members with leadership potential and a passion for caring ministries and to develop these persons for future leadership roles within the caring ministries
To equip ministry partner leaders and ministry partners (using equipping principles) to serve with excellence as they care for their brothers and sisters in Christ
To broaden our base of ministry by promoting the biblical foundations for prayer, healing, compassion, having a deeper love for others and teaching God’s truth about relationships with others and with Himself
To periodically provide pastoral services such as weddings, funerals, baptisms and spiritual direction and crisis response
To teach / preach periodically
Counseling experience – must have had supervised counseling experience
Management experience – must have previous experience administering, overseeing, and directing the business and people resources of a ministry, non-profit or business division, department or workgroup.
Group experience - Has personally experienced small group community for at least three years and must be able to communicate the value of community in his own life
Team Leadership and Equipping Ministry Partners- proven track record in creating and equipping ministry teams
Effective teaching and preaching
Master Level Education: M.Div. preferred
Must demonstrate that undergraduate or graduate studies include education in (1) Sound theological and Biblical principles
(2) Counseling and developmental psychology

Committed follower of Christ exhibiting spiritual gifts of leadership, administration and pastor/ teaching
Teamwork and team leadership–works in partnership with other leaders, staff members and ministry partners to implement the overall mission of the church and is committed to helping FCCH reach people outside of the church to connect into the life of the church. Also has the ability to develop teams and empower people.
Strategic thinking –Needs the ability to think strategically about the development, planning and implementation of a Caring Ministry model that is compatible with a church of over 1000 people
Initiative – Independently suggests actions that promote success and options for solving problems
Effective communication –must be able to cast a vision for a Caring Ministry and to inspire action and passion in others by clearly articulating a plan for its implementation.
Process coordination–required to provide leadership in developing and systematically implementing a congregational care model, managing the systems that are put in place, insuring information is updated and reported and will be responsible for the proposal of and adherence to the Care Ministries’ annual budget
Empowering others to grow and develop skills in being able to recover from life’s difficulties in order to further spiritual growth.
Enhancing teams and their effectiveness in moving those they work with toward spiritual growth.
