Youth Pastor Job Description

Monroe Bible Church has a dynamic high school ministry that reaches students from other churches and communities in our county. Our previous youth pastor ministered here with the current senior pastor for 11 years and we are looking for another person who is interested in a long term ministry in our community. There is currently a group of committed adult volunteers helping in our high school student ministry. We are committed to investing in our students, involving them in the ministries of our church, exposing them to a variety of ministry and missions experiences, and preparing them to live lives devoted to Christ beyond high school.


1. A growing relationship with Christ
2. A Bachelor's Degree with 3 or more years of leadership experience in youth ministry
3. Happily married
4. Agrees with the doctrine of Monroe Bible Church and a family-based ministry philosophy
5. Possesses gifting in the areas of teaching, leadership, shepherding and evangelism
6. Fun, a good sense of humor, loves youth, approachable, and able to relate to students
7. Teachable, flexible, and a team player who works well with children and adults
8. Interested in serving in student ministry in Monroe for at least 5 years
9. Comfortable with social networking technology


1. Develop and communicate philosophy, vision, and goals of the children’s, middle school and high school
ministries to parents, students, and volunteers
2. Develop and train student and adult leaders
3. Lead high school student ministry (75% of time)
• Weekly meetings including worship, teaching and activity times (currently average 45 students weekly)
• Lead students in short term mission trips, conferences, retreats, service projects and outreaches
• Equip students with the ability to grow and maintain their relationship with God after graduating from high school
• Willing to work in our student ministries with students from other churches
• Oversee student ministries budget
4. Develop middle school student ministries (20% of time)
• Currently the only middle school ministry is Awana Trek
5. Oversee children’s ministries (5% of time)
• Currently there are sufficient leaders in our children’s ministries which include Children’s Sunday School and
6. Occasional limited counseling of students

Accountable to the Elder Board and supervised by the Senior Pastor
