Job Description:
First Baptist Church Joelton (FBCJ) is seeking to hire a Minister of Music and Worship to join our team and to lead a ministry that includes praise teams, choirs, drama, multimedia, and various other music programs. The primary purpose of the Music Ministry of FBCJ is to glorify God by proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ. “Impacting our communities with the hope, peace, and purpose of Jesus Christ” is our mission statement.

Characteristics and Abilities

The following are the characteristics and skills required of the individual filling the role of Music and Worship Minister at First Baptist Church Joelton. The ideal candidate would have demonstrated the following characteristics, skills and abilities:
• Have a passion for worship and a vibrant prayer life
• Personal integrity and self-motivation in the fulfillment of ministry
• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
• Musically gifted and trained
• A growing theology and practice of Christ-centered worship

Education / Experience

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree or seminary degree in music with desire to seek additional education
• Experience organizing traditional and contemporary style worship
• Active member of a Christian congregation and able to minister in accordance with the theology and practice of the Southern Baptist church
• Experienced in mentoring and developing worship leadership and gifts in others
• Three to five years of proven leadership as a music minister in a congregation of 500 or more worshippers preferred
