Job Description

Title: the kid’s ministry Pastor

Summary: Provides overall leadership development, vision casting, training and direction for the kid’s ministry.

• Leadership Development/Team Building
o Holds team meetings and sends weekly emails to the leadership team. The leadership team consists of all key leaders in the kid’s ministry.
o Weekly emails are designed to cultivate leadership development, spiritual growth and unity between team members.
o Develops and provides training for all new leaders.

• Spiritual Growth
o During each weekend service we provide large group and small group environments for children to consistently learn and develop spiritual growth.
o We also provide Story time (Biblical story shared on a weekly basis with the same emphasis as that of the small group) during our weekly services.
o Devotional Magazines are given to each child at the beginning of each quarter. Families are encouraged to study these together.
o We have an incentives program set-up for our Elementary students where they can earn and redeem points in various categories.
o To serve on the kid’s ministry team, each member is required to attend a service as well as serve in a service. We also highly encourage leaders to be involved in Connect Groups.
o We highly encourage parents to talk with their children about a relationship with Christ, but we also present the salvation message at special times throughout the year in our services. (Followed up by contacting the parents of students who receive Christ.)
o Provide baptism class/counseling for any families interested.

• Program Development
o Evaluates current programs offered to ensure they meet the needs of the kid’s ministry students and their families
o Creates and offers new programs when needed
o Evaluates curriculum to ensure that it meets the needs of the students
o Staffing- recruiting and coordinating all volunteer members as well as key leaders so that they can manage the kid’s ministry area from weekend to weekend.
o Supplies- overseeing all supplies necessary for the weekend services.
o Classroom environment- evaluates classroom environments/decorations, and always looks for places to improve.
o Works with Student Pastor in certain areas and events to help 5th graders transition into Revolution.
o Oversees childcare for Wednesday night Connect Group classes each semester
o Oversees childcare for Pastor’s prayer gatherings (scheduled at different times throughout the year)

• Weekend Responsibilities
o Ensures that all scheduled leaders are present and fulfill their necessary duties.
o Approves all the kid’s ministry facilities prior to the beginning of services.
o Monitors classes and hallways to maintain the safety of all children as well as leaders.
o Greets regular parents and children each week as well as welcoming any guest families.
o Records attendance numbers for the kid’s ministry.
o Leads the large group time for 1st and 2nd service each Sunday.

• Event Coordination
o Weekend Services
o Open House (annually right before school starts-work with Revolution)
o Fall Festival (annually the weekend before Halloween)
o Christmas Musical (annually, the first weekend of December)
o Easter Egg Hunt (annually, the Saturday of Easter weekend)
o Vacation Bible School (did June of 2009)
o Kid’s Camp (annually in late June early July)
o Child Dedication (twice a year in April and November)
o Baptism (quarterly)

• Daily Duties
o Schedules leaders
o Returns Emails
o Plans and prepares for weekend services
o Program Development
o Plans and prepares for leadership meetings
o Works with other staff members to improve quality of ministry
o Plans and prepares for special events

• Personal Development
o Spends personal time studying the Bible and in prayer
o Takes part in family devotions
o Reads various personal development and leadership development books
o Attends children’s ministry leadership conference
o Attends and participate in a Connect Group

Childrens Pastor
Brief history of the church
7 years old, running an average attendance of 750 per weekend, modern and looking to continue to grow

Brandi Pace, volunteer that worked her way up through the system, she is pregnant and wanting to invest in her family.
Primary Job Duties
Oversight or all childrens ministry includes vision casting, recruiting, programming, leading volunteers, etc...
Secondary Job Duties
holding regular office hours, insuring we have proper childcare in place for wed classes.

high school diploma, and a college degree would be nice but not required depending on the person
Previous Experience Desired (years & church size)
Would like someone that has a track record of success and proven growth and leadership, at least 2 yrs and a church of 400 or more.
