Student Ministries Associate

The Avenue Church seeks an individual who would nurture and grow our already established student group. We feel the need to reach beyond our church walls, to develop an authentic student ministry that makes a difference in our neighborhoods, community and county.

The Avenue Church is seeking to connect with an enthusiastic and self-motivated leader grounded in the Christian faith that has a passion for reaching student and seeing them grow in their faith. We are looking for a team player with the confidence and ability to lead student, parents, and volunteers.

This is a position working alongside the Family Ministry Team and Student Pastor. This is currently a part-time position. It is our desire to see this ministry position grow into a full-time role in terms of responsibilities and compensation.

Overall Goals
- Assist in the developing and growth of the student ministry in both depth and participation
- Assist in the design of programs that allow student to connect with each other, grow in their spiritual journey, serve others, and participate in meaningful worship
- Build strong relationships with student and their families
- Network and connect with the Ellis County community and identify opportunities for outreach and service
- Assist in recruiting, training, equipping and nurturing a of a team of dedicated adult volunteer leaders
- Help develop a leadership core from among the student
- Provide a balance between learning, fellowship and service
- Continue to connect the student ministry to the larger church family
- Ensure safety of our student at all times by establishing and enforcing appropriate policies and processes
- Continue a presence in our community; network

Specific Responsibilities
- Help Family Pastor in developing and delivering programs for middle and high school student gatherings
- Continue to help build and organize a student team consisting of adult volunteers
- Help manage a student ministry budget
- Identify and pursue fundraising opportunities
- Be involved in personal discipleship with students on ongoing basis (listen, be available)
- Maintain calendar of events
- Develop communication plan
- Identify and organize focused growth and ministry opportunities (retreats, summer camps, mission trips, service projects etc.)
- Develop student worship opportunities
- Head up all room/stage set up on student meeting days and nights

The student minister will report to the Family Pastor/Minister of Students
-Quarterly evaluations
- Annual goals
- Performance evaluation

Time Commitment and Compensation
Part time position: 20 hours per week
Compensation: $200/week

Experience and Education
College degree, Seminary or currently attending (student ministry or related preferred)
Experience with student ministry/outreach
Conversant with computer and web-based communication/productivity technologies
Driver’s license
Successful background check required
