In concert with the Mission & Vision Statement of the Church the following items are the main responsibilities of the Organist at Trinity Lutheran Church:
This position will be a position under the direction of the Traditional Service Choral Director
Provide music with pipe organ & piano as needed at traditional mass and at other scheduled services including but not limited to, Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, Easter, Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day falling on Sunday.
Provide musical support through regularly scheduled rehearsals
Play the weekly and seasonal music that is prepared by the Choral Director and Pastor
Provide special music for holy days and seasons like Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter.
Involve and encourage both adults and children to participate in the music program.
When requested, consult with and advise those arranging for special services (like weddings and funerals etc.) and to play for such services, receiving extra individual compensation.
Provide replacement organist for vacation or continuing education times in consultation with Pastor.
Communicate a joyful spiritual health to volunteers and the worshipping congregation through music and spiritual growth.
B. Weekly Responsibilities
Realizing that this is a part-time position, it is understood that the organist will not maintain regular office hours. However, it is expected that a regular time will be spent at the church office for meetings and rehearsals in preparation for masses each week. The following is required:
Supervision of organ tuning and maintenance.
C. Responsibilities to other Programs
All members of Trinity Church staff cooperate to compliment each others gifts and serve the congregation. We expect the music leadership to have a collegial style with other staff: to work in concert with other programs and leaders of the Church to maximize the spiritual gifts of others in the church.
