- Job Description:
- Community Christian Church, Naperville, IL http://communitychristian.org - We're a multi-site church in Chicagoland with 9 current locations.
1- Year Full-Time Position, with option for 2 years and potential for permanent full-time.
We’re looking for a MacGyver-type to oversee and consult with campuses on technical arts, including media, sound, and lighting. . If you live and breathe things like cables, adapters, amps, and electrical tape then you could be just who we’re looking for! The purpose of this role is to assist and empower the campus Arts Directors to be successful when it comes to tech, especially as it relates to video and media playback. That could include helping fix an issue, recommending products for purchase, helping with the install at a new location, etc… Batteries not included; Duct tape required.
Requirements:
• Live in the Chicagoland area (anywhere nearby is fine)
• Education: Bachelor’s at least, a Masters in something would be cool too
• Previous experience: you’ve gotta have several years of experience doing this kind of thing and be able to prove it. Whether or not you’ve worked in a church setting is not important, but I’m pretty sure you need to be a Christ-follower to apply.
Expectations:
• Travel to 1-2 campuses each weekend to hangout and consult with campus Arts Directors. Troubleshooting and training on-the-spot, getting to know the leaders and volunteers at that campus
• Make recommendations for purchasing and installing new equipment. Create a standard ‘package’ of equipment that each campus should have at launch
• Help train and empower Arts Directors to troubleshoot and repair their own equipment
• Work with arts directors to schedule regular training at different locations to train volunteers how to use the equipment
This person would totally rock if they:
• Have extensive experience with projectors, sound, and lighting gear, installing and purchasing new equipment, and like to splice wires
• Are an expert on both MediaShout AND ProPresenter and could troubleshoot basic computer problems. We have a preference for the Mac, but you’d need to know Windows too.
• Know the difference between video codec formats (like H.264) and how to play them
• Have ever dismantled a projector just to see what it looks like inside and then had parts left-over after they put it back together
• Have held their body in a contorted position just to make something work during an entire service or performance
• Normally wear a tool belt, even when they’re not on a gig
Possible projects:
• Implementing 16:9 screen/projector set ups at all locations
• Create master list of all tech equipment needed for campus launches
• Build a recommended media system for training, demos
• Create training videos on mixing audio, ProPresenter, and projector troubleshooting
What this role is NOT expected to do:
• Always be available to everyone to fix emergency technical problems
• Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers at each campus
• Be the only person who knows how to troubleshoot and fix equipment
• Facilitate room AV needs for meetings or other events
Salary and benefits are negotiable based on the person that fits the bill. Since this is only initially a 1-year position, it’s possible to make it either a contracted (self-employed) role or a full-time employee status with benefits. The option is open to renew the position for a 2nd year and it’s also a possibility that the role will become a permanent full-time position after two years, but it’s hard to say right now. We’re nothing if not flexible.
Thanks for playing! Send your resume to tomgreever@communitychristian.org
