Graphic Designer / Designer of Worship Environments

Candidate Description
The Woodlands United Methodist Church / Communications & Media Department is seeking an energetic and experienced visual artist to advance the message of Jesus Christ in fresh and compelling ways in worship. Candidate is able to design and communicate with remarkable visual style across print graphics, media screens as well as large scale, three-dimensional theatrical spaces. We are seeking someone who embraces emerging culture, technology and design with passion and excitement. Candidate must bring the ability to identify, develop and implement creative and cutting-edge worship experiences based on Biblically sound themes and teachings. Candidate has an exceptional eye for detail.

Essential Functions
Collaborate with worship production team members and pastors to brainstorm and develop ideas, and to identify creative deliverables for upcoming worship experiences; Design master theme graphics including logos and accompanying visual elements for printed materials, screen graphics and environmental installations; Design and construct stage sets, including backdrops and three-dimensional elements inside the worship space; Collaborate with lighting designer to develop appropriate lighting designs for each worship experience; Collaborate with video editors and video director to identify opportunities for the integration of animated graphics and other video elements in worship; Create, organize and run worship lyrics and sermon graphics during worship; Design promotional materials for various church ministries including T-shirts, banners, bulletins, slides, posters, brochures, etc.; Shop for staging materials, supplies and props; Manage project budgets; Interact with and manage various third-party vendors; Develop and manage production schedules and deadlines.

Candidate Requirements
Related college degree and three to five years experience in a creative, professional environment required; previous worship production experience required. Proven mastery of illustration, color theory and typography is required. Print production and pre-press experience required. Set design and construction / environmental design experience is required. Candidate must be highly organized and able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Proven ability to find creative solutions and successfully interact with a wide variety of people and personalities. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite software (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat) is required. Macintosh platform experience required. Proficiency with ProPresenter and ProPlayer is preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office software preferred; experience with Adobe After Effects is preferred; photography skills are preferred.

This position reports directly to the acting Worship Arts Director. Full-time position; competitive salary and benefits offered. Work hours are 9:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. Wednesday - Saturday; Sundays 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Some flexible or extended hours will be required during Christmas, Easter and other special events on campus.
