Job Description
PURPOSE: To direct the spiritual life and growth of 7th-12th graders so that they may be strong and secure in their faith by the time they finish 12th grade.
The Director of Youth Ministry will work 15-20 hours per week under the supervision of the pastor and the elders to provide an effective and comprehensive ministry to our youth, their friends, and young people throughout the county, that they might Experience God, Know Jesus Christ, Follow the Spirit and Love Others.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WOULD BRING …
Mature Christian Commitment: must have a strong background in Christian experience and ministry. Understanding of Presbyterian traditions is helpful
Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: do others like to follow you? Oral presentations; understanding of group dynamics, ability to listen and discern
Educational Achievement: A bachelor’s degree is not required, but desirable; a high level of academic ability is necessary
Computer Skills: (in order of importance) Word, email, web browsing, powerpoint, desktop publishing, photoshop, movie making, spreadsheet, website maintenance
Administrative Skills: event and task-oriented, disciplined, organized, clear communicator
Spiritual Vitality: love for God, have a passion for worship and a vibrant prayer life. Willing to become a member of our church.
Musical Ability: leading group singing for the middle school and high school students (desired, not required)
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and equip volunteer staff for youth group
Coordinate weekly programs (SHaC and Code3), Sunday School, small group Bible studies
Organize Mexico mission trip for youth and families, overnight special trips, service opportunities, outreach events
Prepare students for membership in the church
Model the spirit and attitude of Christ in all things
Plan the program, content, games, schedule and volunteer involvement
COMPENSATION : a salaried position equating to $12 to $17/hr depending on background, experience, and educational level. (no bachelors=$12-$14; bachelors = $13-15; masters = $15-$17). Two weeks vacation annually. No medical/health care benefits. Additional stipend for overnight trips of $75 per day (one night away = $150 stipend, two nights =$225 and so on). There is the possibility of housing allowance or subsidy.

ABOUT US: Our mission as a church is to grow in relationship with Jesus Christ and each other; through Christian community we seek to increase in love and service, to the glory of God. We are a church of about 100 adults, 20 youth and 30 children, planted in 2002 by First Presbyterian of Santa Rosa and the governing presbytery. We are comfortable within Reformed theology; as an entrepreneurial church we find ourselves able to do anything we deem effective in ministry. Our staff includes a pastor, youth director, children’s director, worship director and handyman/custodian.
