CCA was founded in 1997 and is located in Panama City, Republic of Panama. The purpose of CCA is to glorify God by assisting the family and church to prepare students to develop academically, spiritually and socially under the Lordship of Jesus Christ and to support and encourage the spiritual and professional growth of our staff. CCA has been a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) since 1997. We have received candidacy status with the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), and we expect to receive full accreditation soon.
The student body at CCA currently consists of 240 students, representing over 20 nationalities. At the present time, about 50% of the students are from international families, 40% are local nationals and 10% are from missionary families. CCA operates under a Board of Directors composed of Biblical Christians, committed to serving the Lord, CCA staff and students. The school operates as a ministry of Crossroads Bible Church (CBC). CBC is an interdenominational evangelical church that ministers to both the English and Spanish speaking communities of Panama. The school is located within the church facilities. CCA provides a quality Christian education in the English language. We offer classes for children from preschool (for 4 year olds) through the 12th grade. Most grades are taught by teachers who are native-English speakers. The personnel is composed of 35 teachers and staff. Approximately 70% are U.S. citizens, 20% are Panamanian, and 10% are from other countries. The school also enjoys a high level of parent interest and participation.
Panama is located on the narrow isthmus linking North and Central America with the South. It is in a tropical region between 7 and 9 degrees north of the equator and has two seasons, wet and dry. Panama City is a multinational, modern metropolis with all the benefits and challenges of a growing population center. Excellent medical care is available as is fine dining, modern apartments, and low cost shopping. The business district is frequently congested with heavy traffic despite the recent construction of major by-pass highways, overpasses and one-way street systems in the downtown area. Good roads provide easy links between towns and tourist areas. Divers, fishermen and surfers have many excellent opportunities to explore Panama’s waters and national parks offer a variety of hiking options and some of the best birding in the world. And, of course, the Panama Canal is one of the greatest engineering feats of modern times. Panama is a safe and easy place to live and work. As in any modern city, reasonable precautions should be taken.
CCA is more than a private school. It is a channel of full-time Christian ministry. We believe that God has had His hand in the formation and development of CCA. We are currently looking to fill the postion of Director of Crossroads Christian Academy here at Crossroads Bible Church, Corozal, Panama
DESCRIPTION and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Scope of Work: The school director serves as the administrative head of the school.
*) Is available to attend all board meetings
*) Confers with the Board Chairman is setting the agenda for the meeting
*) Presents the “Director’s Report”
*) Is not a voting member of the board
*) Makes recommendations for action to the board
*) Reports on the status of teachers and prospective teachers
*) Assists the board in log-term planning
*) Recruits and hires faculty with the assistance of the associate director
*) Evaluates faculty performance according to policy
*) Renews contracts with current faculty
*) Orients new faculty to CCA
*) Schedules and assigns teachers to classes
*) Is responsible for the spiritual guidance of the faculty
*) Provides social support for the faculty
*) Plans and supervises all student schedules
*) Responsible for monitoring and planning for student academic success
*) Ensures that the co-curricular activities meet the needs of the students
*) Responsible for student discipline
*) Responsible for giving spiritual direction to the students
*) Maintains a positive learning environment on campus
*) Ensures the safety of students on campus
*) Informs the parents of all activities involving students
*) Communicates student progress to the parents
*) Is empathetic to parent concerns
*) Schedules parent conferences and parent meetings
*) Communicates long-term plans to the parents
*) Is the instructional facilitator in the school
*) Ensures articulation of curriculum in all areas of the school
*) Ensures that the curriculum meets the needs of all students accepted into the school.
*) Works in conjunction the associate director in maintaining the facility
*) Assists the board in developing long-term facility plans
*) Works with the associate director in planning for facility changes
*) Works with the associate director in providing adequate housing for the faculty
*) Ensures that the school environment is safe and hygienic
*) Coordinates facility usage to meet school ad community needs
*) Develops a good relationship with local utility companies and other service companies
*) Fulfills the role of the Maintenance Manager in his absence.
7) Business Management
*) Supervises the accounts
*) Maintains the financial integrity of the school
*) Works in conjunction with associate director, faculty, Board, and staff in setting budgets
*) Approves all loans to employees
*) Grants financial aid according to policy
*) Submits financial reports to the Board
*) Ensures that all accounts are fully reconciled on a quarterly basis and verified by the board treasurer
*) Ensures that the office efficiently serves the faculty and staff
*) Ensures that the school maintains a positive community image
*) Is the school representative at all invited public functions
*) Develops community awareness of the school through the media
*) Maintains membership in professional organizations
*) Ensures that the school maintains an NEASC accreditation
*) Maintains a good relationship with local staff
*) Ensures that local personnel fulfill job requirements

Academically: measured by test scores and College admissions rates.
Facilities: attractive, comfortable to offer a great education.
Spiritually: Students interested in outreach, exhibit good attitudes, etc..
• CCA is a ministry of Crossroads Bible Church.
• CCA will share facilities with Crossroads Bible Church.
• CCA will utilize an English-based curriculum (not be a bi-lingual school).
• Instill in students an appreciation for local culture, language and history.
• Receive accreditation by the NEASC by 2009.
• CCA will offer at least one class per grade for K4-12.
• Offer full academic and co-curricular programs, including arts, music, sports, and academic electives.
• Teachers will have U.S. qualifications or equivalent.
