Primary Objective of Position
To effectively lead Children’s Ministry (through 5th grade) in Faith Covenant’s focus to
Embrace – Equip – Extend by:
Reaching and growing children in Christ.
Equipping parents of children.
Recruiting and developing volunteers for the work of Children’s Ministry.
Responsible for organizing of all children’s programs (infancy through grade 5). This primarily includes, but is not limited to: Sunday morning and Wednesday evening programs and special activities and events.
Research, evaluate, and select age appropriate, biblically based, integrated curriculum. Review and evaluate overall success and effectiveness of curriculum on at least an annual basis and make changes as appropriate.
Recruit and provide ongoing, energizing equipping of volunteers and teachers for Children’s Ministry programs.
Provide leadership, supervision, and mentorship to all Children’s Ministry staff.
Review, evaluate, and implement the Children’s Ministry safety plan to insure the safety of all children.
Collaborate with pastoral staff to provide meaningful equipping of parents.
Develop outreach strategies involving children and Faith Covenant attendees in experiences that extend us into the community. (Past examples: Faith Food Outreach, Drama Camp, VBS, Fire Muster Parade, Feed My Starving Children.)
Develop a method intentionally connect and follow up with visitors, both children and families.
Form and work with a Children’s Ministry steering team to oversee programming, communication, and budgeting.
Intentionally collaborate with Junior High Ministry in transitioning fifth graders into junior high.
A 4-year college degree or equivalent.
3 years of relevant experience in a children’s ministry to include actual leadership of programs, verified by proven track record.
Bible knowledge, proven as an effective teacher with children, volunteers, and parents, with the ability to communicate and apply that knowledge to children.
Demonstrated capacity to lead ministry staff and to recruit, inspire, mentor, and deploy adult volunteers and to lead teams of adults.
Formal training in child development and an affection for children and their families.
