The Co-Executive Directors(CEDs) of Community Life have joint responsibility for managing, developing, and overseeing, the staff activities and programs related to the Community Life team. The individual will focus on people in the 20-50 age range, providing opportunities for people to be drawn into a relationship with Jesus Christ and to grow strong and healthy in their relationship to Jesus Christ. The CEDs will work collaboratively together but have emphasis on different responsibilities. The CEDs will have equal authority and may carry out duties in the others absence. The Co-Executive Directors positions are responsible for setting the vision, supervising the staff, encouraging and training the volunteers, implementing, expanding and teaching the programs, assisting in worship services, and revitalizing various ministries within the community life of the church.


• Organizational Leadership
o Co-lead or lead weekly staff meetings.
o Lead, with Elders, Community Life Committee meetings.
o Meet individually with staff for counsel, support and vision clarification.
o Help the staff to set and achieve their annual goals.
o Evaluate community life programs for quality, focus and effectiveness.
o Ensure programs are in alignment with mission, and core values.

• Congregational Leadership
o Teach classes on a regular basis, increasing theological and biblical awareness, skill and motivation to continue learning.
o Assist in Worship Services.
o Oversee development of ways to assimilate visitors and new members into the life of the church.
o Recruit, train, and encourage volunteers in ways that suit their skills and knowledge, needs, constraints and sensitivities.
o Direct Community Life Ministries Committees in activities and direction.
o Develop and coordinate Community Life Ministries programs, trips and service projects.
o Work with Co-Executive Director of Community Life to develop community within the life of the church.

• Programmatic Leadership
o Analyze the educational or other programmatic needs (i.e. small groups, retreats, special weekend events)
of target age group and expand and develop the current ministries, as needed, to suit the needs of the congregation.
o Cultivate relationships between congregation and community.

• Financial Leadership
o Work closely with CED, Community Life Committee and Elders to establish and manage the Community Life budget.
o Review and supervise budget in accordance with Session mandates.
o Manage expenditures and outflows.


• Supervision experience of church or Para-church staff.
• Life experience in ministry (10-20 years) preferred, to bring necessary expertise in fulfilling expectations of this position.
• Team player, willing to actively participate and lead.
• Theological graduate degree preferred, but not required.
• Gifts and experience necessary in recruiting, motivating, and encouraging volunteers.
• Communication skills necessary to provide inspiration and motivation for people to grow in their relationship with Christ.
