Position: Youth & C.E. Pastor
Emphasis: Youth Pastor (6-12 grades)/ Christian Education
Secondary Emphasis: College & Career

General Summary
The Youth & Christian Education Pastor is responsible for providing ministerial leadership to develop a comprehensive Youth/Christian Education Ministry that is consistent with the vision and mission of the church

Staff Relationship
The Youth & Christian Education Pastor is responsible to the Senior Pastor, who will supervise, evaluate, and provide a report of evaluation to the Deacons for an annual evaluation

• Must be called by God to work as a Youth Pastor
• Must see the importance of Christian Education in the life of the Church
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, conflict management skills, and computer skills
• Believe in and publically and privately support the vision of First Baptist Church
• Shall have or be pursuing a college degree in a ministry related field
• Shall have at least two years of experience working with youth in lay or ministerial role
• Have and maintain a good moral character
• Marriage/committed relationship preferred but not required
• Musical and/or technology abilities are a plus

Principal Duties

Youth Pastor
o Oversee and lead the youth ministry
• Lead Sunday evening services and other activities during the week
• Develop a youth discipleship program; develop relationships with youth through visitation, attendance at school events, etc.
• Develop fellowship times, retreats, and outreach missions
• Actively communicate with youth and parents on all aspects of youth life and ministry
Christian Education
o To lead the Board of Christian Education in developing the overall ministry of C.E.
• Being a resource person for the Sunday school and V.B.S. leadership
• Assist in providing training sessions for Sunday school teachers, children leaders, and other leadership struggles
• Spiritual gifts discovery, development, and implementation

Secondary responsibility
o To oversee and lead college and career ministry
• Develop Sunday school group
• Mentoring opportunities with youth

Pastoral Type Duties (as needed)
o When the Senior Pastor or Associate Pastor is unable to serve
• Visitation
• Funerals
• Weddings
• Baptisms
• Serve Communion

Specific Responsibilities
• Have written Spiritual Discipline goals
• Write Goals and Objectives for areas of responsibility
• Attend staff meetings
• Attend monthly business meetings and report results or upcoming planned events
• Keep the Senior Pastor abreast of youth programs and activities Keep the Senior Pastor abreast of youth programs and activities
• Assist with other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor

Salary and Vacation
• Initial salary to be determined by Deacons/Finance Committee then yearly by the Board of Deacons with consideration of the Budget Committee
• Two weeks vacation per year with renewal of January 1st of each year
