Job Description:
Taylors First Baptist is a large church with a rich history, seeking to impact the community and the world in the 21st century with a message of hope. The church is focused on missions and ministry that will draw people to Christ. Currently the church has a contemporary service, with choir, band-driven, with an attendance of 1400+, and a traditional service, with choir and orchestra, with an attendance of 900+. Average Bible Study attendance is 2000.

We are seeking a full-time Associate to assist the Senior Minister of Music and Worship in leading the ministry. Currently we have a full-time Associate, who is leaving the position to go into music evangelism / missions, an Administrative Assistant who also works with Children and Student Choirs, a full-time Technical Director, and an Intern who works with the orchestra and assists with choral rehearsals.

Character, integrity, and the heart of a minister-servant are required. The candidate should have at a minimum a Bachelors degree or equivalent in music, with seminary / graduate education a plus. The position requires the ability to lead both choral and instrumental rehearsals when called upon. Skill with the guitar, and in working with a worship band and vocalists, are essential to the position. While the ability to lead all styles of music is helpful, the Music Associate will work primarily with the contemporary worship teams. Ability to lead and develop instrumental / orchestral music is a plus.

This position requires the proven ability to recruit, train, and lead a volunteer staff. Ability to make decisions, work independently within assigned responsibilities and have a “whatever it takes” attitude to get the job done, as well as contribute as a team member of the staff are critical.

This is an opportunity for someone in their 20s-30s with ability in more traditional music arenas, but with a real passion for progressive contemporary worship, to work with and learn from an excellent church staff, and to be creative in planning and leading worship in a large church.
