Church Planting Pastor
Northshore Baptist Church is a church of over 2300 located in Bothell, Washington, a Seattle suburb, that has launched a church planting movement of 12 churches and growing. We are seeking a Church Planting Pastor who will plant a new daughter church from Northshore. The Church Planter will serve on the ministry staff as the Assistant Pastor of Community Life during the equipping phase for 12-18 months. During the preparation and launch phase, the Church Planting pastor will build and develop a launch team, launch the church, and lead as the lead pastor and primary teaching pastor.

The ideal candidate will have: (1) a radical commitment to the supremacy of Jesus Christ, (2) a strong calling for church planting, (3) a passion for reaching the unchurched, (4) a strong marriage and family, (5) demonstrated success in leading and building in ministry, (6) a gift for preaching and teaching, (7) entrepreneurial aptitude and creativity, (8) theological clarity (Masters degree in Ministry or Theology preferred), and (9) a deep desire to be a church-planting church that is part of a church planting movement in the Pacific Northwest through partnership with Northshore, the North Sound Network, Converge Northwest, and Converge Worldwide.

Primary Areas of Responsibility:
• Church Planting Leadership (30% for 12-18 months until preparation for launch then 100% during preparation and launch)
o Lead and shepherd in partnership and collaboration out of an overflow of a deep and abiding relationship with the Risen Lord Jesus Christ
o Learn and develop in spiritual leadership
? Encourage and shepherd the spiritual formation of the church plant as the lead teacher and communicator
? Lead the church plant to a deeper vision of the Supremacy of Christ and a deeper dependence upon the power of the Holy Spirit
o Learn and develop in visionary and strategic leadership
? Collaboratively develop, nurture, and communicate the vision and ministry strategy of church plant with leadership and congregation
? Lead the church plant leadership team to develop strategic plans and yearly ministry action plans to accomplish church plant’s mission
o Learn and develop in leadership development & deployment
? Build and develop a church planting launch team
? Partner with, oversee, develop, shepherd, and manage the church plant leadership team to be effective spiritual leaders and servants
? Champion Leadership Development, and develop and implement a church-wide Leadership Development Plan
o Learn and develop in preaching, teaching, and worship
? Serve as the Lead Teaching Pastor of the church plant
? Learn to develop Christ-centered, spiritually transforming message series and weekly messages
? Learn to partner with Worship Team to develop weekend worship services
? Learn to collect and celebrate faith stories and shared experiences from congregation to share during weekend worship services (“we value what we celebrate”)

• Assistant Pastor of Community Life (60% during preparation phase)
o Partner with Pastor of Community Life to oversee Northshore’s Newcomer welcome and assimilation process, ensuring that new people to Northshore are fully integrated into the body through our “first impressions” ministry
o Assist in developing and leading the New Member Orientation class and process
o Develop and lead team to provide initial contact and follow-up to visitors and new attendees at Northshore
• General Staff Responsibilities (10%):
o Lead and serve in a spirit of cooperation and collaboration with the entire leadership of Northshore (Overseers, Staff, Core Lay Leaders, etc.)
o Provide pastoral care (prayer, counseling, encouragement, etc.) to NSB body
o Participate as a leader and pastor in major Northshore Events as directed
o Officiate weddings, funerals, baptisms, communion as requested
o Execute other pastoral duties as assigned (preach, pastoral care, etc.)
