Job Description:
Pastor of Local Mission & Outreach
Northshore Baptist Church is a church of over 2300 located in Bothell, Washington, a Seattle suburb. We are seeking a Pastor of Local Mission & Outreach who will spiritually direct, lead, and champion local mission, outreach, and evangelism so that Northshore can fulfill its mission of “inviting the people of our world into the life-transforming community of Jesus.” The Pastor of Local Mission & Outreach will report to the Senior Pastor.

Primary Areas of Community Life Responsibility:
• Mission Team Leadership (25%)
o Lead and shepherd in partnership and collaboration out of an overflow of a deep and abiding relationship with the Risen Lord Jesus Christ
o Be the “champion” for mission, evangelism, and outreach at Northshore
o Serve as an integral member of the Ministry Management Team
o Lead the Mission Team (Pastor of Global Missions, Local Mission Ministry Assistant, & Global Mission Ministry Assistant)
o Develop annual ministry action plan with specific strategies, goals, and objectives for Northshore Local Mission
• Evangelism & Outreach (25%)
o Develop and implement church-wide evangelism and outreach strategies, training, and opportunities
o Develop and lead “seeker” program (class or small groups based) to help those exploring Jesus Christ
o Oversee Northshore’s Baptism ministry (in cooperation with Worship Ministry)
o Develop and lead new believer’s class as a first step for those who have entered into relationship with Jesus Christ
o Be a resource and influence for staff and congregation for evangelism, outreach, and local mission across Northshore’s ministries and ministry departments
o Develop and implement local and global “mission” opportunities for all Northshore Small Groups (in conjunction with Pastor of Community Life)
o Oversee and build relationships with Northshore’s local “mission” agencies that we support (e.g. Life Choices, Young Life, etc.)
• Local Impact Initiative (40%)
o Develop, implement, and lead a major, church-wide initiative to reach out to our local communities (Bothell, Woodinville, Kirkland, & Kenmore)
? Develop and deploy LII Leadership Team
? Develop and implement LII strategy
? Develop opportunities for over 500 Northshore people to be engaged in within first three years
o Develop relationships with local “mission” agencies and local mission leaders
• General Staff Responsibilities (10%):
o Lead and serve in a spirit of cooperation and collaboration with the entire leadership of Northshore (Overseers, Staff, Core Lay Leaders, etc.)
o Provide pastoral care (prayer, counseling, encouragement, etc.) to NSB body
o Participate as a leader and pastor in major Northshore Events as directed
o Officiate weddings, funerals, baptisms, communion as requested
o Execute other pastoral duties as assigned (preach, pastoral care, etc.)

The ideal candidate will have a Masters degree in Ministry, Biblical Studies, and/or Theology, 5+ years of ministry experience building a local mission and outreach ministry in a larger church (1000+), and have gifts in the areas of evangelism, leadership, and shepherding.
