****Communities First Association (CFA) is a newly formed organization independent of the Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRCNA) and the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee (CRWRC). This position is not a CRCNA or CRWRC paid or sponsored position****

Communities First Association serves a growing network of leaders around the country who train and coach churches and faith-based organizations in Asset Based Community Development principles and practices. We strengthen communities by helping to reduce poverty and residents discover and use what they have for the common good. By engaging churches and faith-based organizations in community transformation efforts, they come alive and their community grows stronger.

Communities First Association (CFA) has an opening for one full-time Director of Development & Communications. The purpose of this position is to develop, support, and sustain all communications and fundraising activies in support of teh vision and mission of CFA. The ideal candidate will possess or have demonstrated relational skills with a proven track record in the area of marketing, sales and/or fund development.

Job Title : Director of Development and Communications
Reports To : Executive Director, Communities First Association (CFA)
FLSA Status : Full-time, salaried

To develop, support and sustain all communications and fundraising activities in support of the vision and mission of CFA.


Develop diversified funding streams including individual donors, grants, institutional donors, and all other donor streams
Develop collaborative grants with Association member organizations that increase CFA revenue while building association partner capacities.
Develop joint funding initiatives with Denominational and National partners.
Develop/guide web-based donor streams and electronic media supporting revenue development.
Lead and manage major donor initiatives and relationships
Develop all aspects of communications related to generating and sustaining revenues
Strategize and plan marketing for the organization· Oversee Copywriting and product revenue streams
Direct graphic and print production supporting revenue development
Direct a public relations strategy

Will supervise contract and regular staff as negotiated with the executive director

A self-starter, self motivated, with demonstrated ability to work with limited direction.
Demonstrated ability to be a cooperative, flexible, and adaptable team player
Demonstrated aptitude and competence with word processing (Office 97 preferred), computerized database management, and financial information reporting systems
Eligibility to work in US

A Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
At least 3 years of successful experience in fund-raising, sales, marketing, or a related field is required.
Relationships that have born significant donations from large donors will be an advantage
Sales and Marketing experience will be helpful
Experience in procuring and sustaining grants will be helpful

Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) or Certified Fundraising Professional (CFP), OR willingness to become qualified as a CFRE or CFP
