Our goal is to hire one intern for the summer of 2009.

Accountabilities for Summer Intern:
Promote a deeper relationship with Jesus through modeling and teaching, increasing the spiritual maturity of the saints at APC.

Specific Responsibilities:
Spend regular time in personal Bible study and devotions to maintain your own spiritual health outside of ministry.
Meet regularly with APC ministry staff—weekly and individually.

Aid in the planning and implementation of Summer VBS, youth evangelism, mission efforts, and summer activities.
Teaching as directed and as opportunities avail themselves.

Supporting APC staff in congregational events and goal achievements.

Additional Internship Responsibilities:
Intentionally affirm, encourage, pray for, and bless one another and each ministry at APC.

Commit to ongoing personal, spiritual, and ministerial growth.
The summer intern will have required reading for the summer. The Senior Pastor will discuss aspects of these readings weekly, therefore it is expected that the intern will keep up with the reading.
The intern will also participate in an evaluation process: one pre-internship (to set goals for the summer and communicate expectations), one mid-summer, and one exit interview.

Qualities Desired in a Summer Intern:

Living godly in Christ Jesus, with God at the center of all aspects of life.

Approximate Time Commitment:
1. 40 hours a week for 10 weeks
2. Hours may be day or evening, with some weekend hours
3. Office hours are required throughout the week.

Our Ministry and Other Tidbits:
One of the primary goals of the summer pastoral ministry intern is to improve upon “form” or our current ministries and programs at APC. We are constantly striving for improvement to elevate our ministry from where it has been. We desire to do ministry “the function,” Christ’s way, laboring with excellence for His glory.

With that in mind, we are looking for a qualified godly man who desires to enter into full-time pastoral ministry. Our intention is to help our summer intern reach their spiritual and ministry goals.

It is our hope that our 2009 intern will contribute to the overall ministry at APC in ways that are
felt long after the summer is over. As a result of our view of interns, we have created the following benefits package:

$350 per week for ten weeks, payable weekly or monthly: $3500 total.
Up to $500 of travel expenses to and from Yakima at the beginning and end of the summer. This will be based on a mileage rate of $.37 per mile from your current living location to Yakima with a maximum of $250 at the beginning of the summer and $250 at the end of the summer.
If necessary, housing will be provided—either living with an APC family or house sitting for APC members who are out of town.
Reasonable ministry expenses will be reimbursed or paid for from the church budget.
Our summer intern, like all APC full-time staff, will be expected to take one day off per week in addition to Saturday. Down time is important, and you will need it.

We hope you will prayerfully consider working with us this summer.
