Job Description:

Church at Viera is a growing, contemporary church with an average weekly attendance of 1750. Located along the east coast of Central Florida, CAV is passionate about helping people express their worship to God, connect with the family of God, and make an impact for the Kingdom of God. 

 

The Technical Director is a vital member of the service programing staff with the primary role of overseeing the production systems and supporting the weekend services at CAV.  This person will work closely with, and contribute to, the creative team and the weekend planning team. They will be responsible to assist in design, integration, engineering, and maintenance of all audio, video, and lighting systems, digital signage, production related computers, and related equipment at CAV. The Technical Director will also recruit, train, and develop volunteers to serve in the production arts ministry to provide technical excellence and support for all weekend services and other church related events.

Job RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversight of all audio, video, lighting, and control systems; including ongoing maintenance
  • New systems and technology design and integration
  • Provide preventative maintenance on all systems and maintain monthly log
  • Work in all weekend services as primary AVL technical support staff
  • Serve as part of the Service Programing Staff and work closely with the Pastor of Service Programing, the Production Director, and other staff members to meet the needs, and support the vision of the church
  • Participate as a member of the weekend planning team to creatively contribute to all technical and production plans
  • Provide technical support for church-wide ministries and events
  • Provide technical support for outside ministries and events as needed
  • Recruit, develop, and equip production teams to operate audio, video, and lighting systems for weekend services and other church events
eDUCATION

A Bachelor’s Degree in a closely related field is preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Must have 2 + years hands-on experience with technology in a modern production environment. 2 + years experience in a Technical Director role at a church of 1000 + weekend attendance is preferred.

SKILLS & Qualities
  • Must be a Christian and fully support the philosophy of the Church at Viera and its leadership team.
  • Must maintain a lifestyle that aligns with the principles outlined in the Bible.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Must be a team player and a team builder with the ability to rally around the ministry and mission of Church at Viera.
  • Must have strong time management and organization skills with attention to detail and information accuracy.
  • Formal training in audio, video, lighting, and control systems disciplines
  • Audio engineering background required
  • Experience with DANTE audio networks required
  • Video production, broadcast, live stream, distribution, and editing background required
  • Lighting design and trouble shooting in multi-universe DMX environment required
  • Live show production experience required
  • Multi-venue and/or multi-site worship service experience preferred
  • Stage design experience preferred
  • Understanding of IT networks, LAN’s, and VLAN’s preferred

    Must have at least three years in ministry related experience.  This may include serving in a significant volunteer position, interning, or employment.
