About the Organization:

Founded in 1999, Ecclesia serves the city of Houston and engages global issues of poverty, injustice, and water accessibility. Over the years, the church has progressively moved from its space on Taft Street in the Montrose area, to its permanent home on Elder Street near downtown. With an average attendance of 2,400-2,500 people, the core of the Ecclesia ministry is uniquely missional.

“Ecclesia” (ekklesía) is a Greek word found in the scriptures meaning “church.” Ecclesia Houston is a Christian community who together are learning how to live as the church. Its hope and desire is to reflect, learn from, and serve the city they call home as the love of Jesus, the liberating King, is shared throughout its community.
