Job Description:

The core purpose of the Lead Pastor, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, is to preach the gospel of Christ; shepherd while equipping the church to live and fulfill the great commission and the great commandment of Jesus.     

 

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Encourage and shepherd the spiritual formation of the congregation as the Lead Pastor, equipper and communicator.
  2. Communicate the mission, vision and strategies to the church to staff, boards, lay leaders and congregation.
  3. Oversee and encourage multiplication of ministry (teaching, leadership, vision development) by developing and empowering the boards, staff, and lay leadership of the church.
  4. Coordinate the planning and direction of worship services with worship ministry pastor and creative planning team.
  5. Coordinate and collaborate with ministry staff to develop a leadership/discipleship model that produces mature followers of Jesus.
  6. Champion the core values of the church.
  7. Report to and serve with the Chairman of the Governing Board and be accountable to the Governing Board.
  8. Be a man contagious and passionate about prayer.
  9. Provide short-term counseling when appropriate.
  10. Support and delegate leadership to the missions ministry of the church. Provide the awareness and importance of the Great Commission Fund, the International Partners Fund and short-term missions opportunities.
  11. Develop a healthy Christ-like presence through involvement in the Town of Paradise.  

Specific Responsibilities

 

A. Spiritual/Personal Life

  1. Consistent spiritual disciplines of Bible study, prayer, and lifestyle.
  2. Regular accountability to spouse and an accountability partner/group.
  3. Intentional pursuit of moral and ethical purity.
  4. High priority placed on spouse and children.

B. PAC Values, Mission, Vision and Strategies

  1. Annual evaluation (with Executive Pastor) of ministry staff in light of the values, mission, vision, and strategies.
  2. Oversee, evaluate and hold accountable the development of ministry staff action plans while aggressively pursuing values, mission, vision, and strategies.

C. Partner with Executive Pastor

  1. Meet weekly to communicate current and long-term goals and delegate action plans. Invest time, skills and training in the Executive Pastor.
  2. Utilize the Executive Pastor to handle the day-to-day functions and communication responsibilities for the purpose of freeing up the Lead Pastor.
  3. Delegate the oversight of church support staff and daily operations to the Executive Pastor.
  4. Lead the ministry staff in conjunction with the Executive Pastor through a healthy growing direction, counsel, care and accountability.

D. Sunday Morning Worship Service

  1. The Lead Pastor will be the primary preacher for the church and will teach God's Word faithfully. The Lead Pastor should be committed to an exposition of Holy Scripture that is relevant, authentic, personally applicable, and appropriate for all ages.
  2. Preach at least eighty percent (80%) of Sundays within a calendar year.
  3. Collaborate and create with the Worship Ministries Pastor and Creative Planning Team in preparation and evaluation of the Sunday morning services.
  4. Communicate preaching series to ministry staff, working with Worship Ministries Pastor and Creative Team in order to co-coordinate with their respective responsibilities.
  5. Plan the preaching schedule, messages, and themes with the Worship Ministries Pastor for all special services. (Good Friday, Easter, Christmas Eve, Christmas, Mother's Day, Father's Day, etc.) 

E. Requirements

  1. Become licensed and ordained through the Central Pacific District of the Alliance Denomination. The candidate must be licensed by the CPD prior to employment. His spouse needs to become a member of PAC (if married).
  2. A heart of a servant leader and a hospitable person on and off campus.
  3. Must tithe proportionately on a regular basis.
  4. Adherence to the policies as defined in the PAC Bylaws and Operating Procedural Manual.
  5. Member of a Community Group.   

Minimum Qualifications

  1. It is preferred the Lead Pastor have a Master's Degree or the equivalent.
  2. At least five (5) years’ experience serving with multiple staff within a large ministry.
