Job Description:

Purpose Statement:

The Grill General Manager is responsible for the leadership and development of Food and Beverage Ministry of Calvary Chapel, whose purpose is to provide a Christian environment for fellowship and discipleship to the Body of Christ, To be direct communication with Pastoral oversight in decision making for the Grill as well as all other areas of food and beverage service for Calvary Chapel.
 
Scope
This position interacts with all ministries using food and beverages in their programming, the church body, staff and the general public.  This person must have a servant’s heart and have the ability to work with the fast changing and last minute needs of our staff and fellowship body.  Their servants’ heart will be displayed in their leadership style, giving all glory to God.  Areas of functioning include:
  • Oversight of catering and special events.
  • Planning for future growth and expansion.
  • Oversight of all operational aspects of food and service.
 
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for making decisions in hiring, separations, and counseling.
  • Responsible for purchase orders and invoice approvals.
  • Maintain payroll reports and weekly approvals.
  • Forecasting staff and volunteer needs for weekly service times and special events.
  • Planning for future school food and beverage needs.  Including forecasting staffing, products, equipment and layout of space.
  • Coordination of all catering and special events with staff, ministries and the Body.  Interacting with Facilities for set up and tear down needs.  Planning of event menus with Executive Chef to achieve proper production levels, quality and cost containment.  Billing Statement turned into Accounting in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining the vision for the Food and Beverage Ministry.  Forecasting future needs, planning for future build out, equipment, floor plans, staffing levels, budgets and event planning.
  • Responsible for keys and cash handling.
  • Maintain regular department meetings.
  • Attend regular department head’s meeting.
  • Provide a Christ-like environment in which staff, volunteers and the Body are warmly received and encouraged.

  • Critical thinking with the ability to initiate plans.
  • Ability to prioritize daily needs.
  • Creative in problem solving.
  • Diverse background in work history with experience in all types of food services.
  • Must be a reflection of the Lord.
  • Will adhere to all aspects of Employee Handbook including “Expectations and Work Standards”
  • Flexible with good time management skills
  • Is occasionally required to lift, push, pull and/or move up to 45 pounds
