WORSHIP DIRECTOR

FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF MIDDLEVILLE

 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

The broad purpose of the Worship Director is to oversee and direct the music ministries of First Baptist Church so that Jesus Christ would be magnified in our corporate worship and the mission of the church would be advanced.

 

REPORT TO:

Senior Pastor

 

WORK CLOSELY WITH:

Worship Teams, Musicians, AV engineers, and the Worship Deacon

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Demonstrate a life of integrity and godliness in alignment with FBC doctrine, values and practice.
  2. Possess proven ability in the area of worship leadership and musical proficiency.
    • A heart for worshiping God.
    • Ability to play or sing well.
    • Ability to model authentic worship.
    • Theological discernment.
  3. Degree not required, but education and experience will be considered in pay.

JOB SUMMARY

  1. The Worship Director shall be directly responsible for oversight, development and enrichment of the music ministries of the church.
  2. Weekly planning, leading and conducting of worship music, managing media and audio elements
    • Creating worship sets and leading worship
    • Preparing and distributing material for weekly service (ie: lyrics, chord charts, lead sheets)
    • Preparation and/or oversight of sound equipment and visual elements
  3. Oversight and development of soloists and other creative elements
  4. Provide worship/creative arts for other dates as needed (holidays, special events, etc.)
  5. Identify, recruit and develop individuals with abilities and desire to participate in worship program
  6. During rehearsals, develop and direct worship team members, musically as well as in the theology of worship
    • Assisting vocalists with harmonies
    • Developing instrumentalists
    • Mentoring young worship leaders and youth band
  7. The Worship Director is responsible, directly or under his supervision, for all scheduling and communication related to music ministries.
  8. Fulfill administrative duties including CCLI requirements 

 

HOURS:

 

  1. Approximately 15-25, negotiable. Salary is based on the hours we agree to, with the understanding that some weeks will require more and some weeks will require less. We have the option to be flexible to work with your schedule needs and amount of responsibility taken on.  (There is the possibility that with mutual consent this position could be expanded to give more responsibilities and hours depending on the skills and abilities of the person and the needs of the church.)
  2. Required hours:
    • Sunday AM:  Worship team rehearsal – [currently] 8:15 to 9:15; Worship service – 11:00 to 12:15
    • Sunday PM:  Worship team or Youth band rehearsal – [currently] 4:45 to 5:45;  Worship service – 6:00 to 7:15
    • Office hours as approved by the Senior Pastor
    • Ideally, the Worship Director will attend Tuesday morning staff meetings, currently 9:30-10:30 AM. (This may be discussed prior to hiring depending on the candidate’s situation.)
  3. Independent planning, practicing, setup for team practice and services

  2. Participate in the worship, witness, and life of First Baptist Church.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to work effectively within the organizational structure of First Baptist Church.
  4. Minister in accordance with the doctrinal beliefs of the church. (If there are any differences, they must be disclosed and discussed prior to hiring. If hired, the Worship Director must agree to keep any disagreement from becoming a point of distraction or division as a requirement for continued ministry in this position.)
  5. Each staff member of FBC shall maintain and respect all privileged, personal, and confidential matters that he/she is made aware of.
  6. Each staff member of FBC shall strive to consistently live out the values of the Staff Covenant.
