MUSIC ASSOCIATE

 

First Baptist Church Nacogdoches is a church with a vibrant worship/music ministry committed to both excellence and passionate worship leaders. 

 

The FBC Nacogdoches Music Ministry is comprised of a choir, orchestra, praise band, praise team, vocal ensembles, student choir, children’s music program, handbells, senior adult choir, and drama. 

 

FBC Nacogdoches is searching for a Music Associate who will give leadership to a contemporary style worship service, be responsible for leading other music groups, and serve as a part of the church staff in ministry.

 

Qualifications

  • Have an evident calling, quality training, and sincere passion to minister to the church through Spirit-led worship
  • Have the ability to work efficiently and effectively with the staff and volunteers they enlist and equip to serve
  • Have good time-management skills and organizational abilities /multi-task skills.
  • Have a core value of excellence 
  • Be detail-oriented, flexible, and decisive, with the ability to organize and coordinate work, set priorities, delegate, build consensus, and meet deadlines
  • Submit to the leadership and established policies of the church

Responsibilities 

  • Consult with the Minister of Music in planning worship services, special events and programs for appropriate musical selection
  • Lead (vocally) and direct worship at regular and special services, utilizing worship teams
  • Oversee praise team and band through recruitment, rehearsals, musical training, and spiritual nurture
  • Include choirs and orchestra as a regular part of worship where it fits stylistically.
  • Enlist and use talents within the church to participate in the music ministry
  • Direct the orchestra in weekly rehearsals and other music groups based on skill
  • Select and purchase music, equipment and instruments, an all related resources needed
  • Prepare and oversee budget items related to area of ministry

Skills:

  • Able to read music
  • Able to “inspire” the congregation in musical worship 
  • Able to lead rehearsals for praise team/band, orchestra, and choir (as needed)
  • Competency with sound, lighting, and computer technology
  • Understand and appreciate the full range of music styles – traditional, contemporary, etc.
