Lead Pastor - (231712) USA Midwest (MO)

We have partnered with Monett Community Church (http://www.monettcommunity.church/) - a young, growing church in Missouri to launch a national search for the church’s next Lead Pastor.

MCC Story

When we were called out, and MCC began 14 years ago, we recognized that there was not a need for just another church in Monett, but that Monett needed a church that would connect with people who weren't finding a connection to God in the churches that were already established. We have tried to do things differently but not just for the sake of being different.  We wanted to connect with people not drawn to the traditional church, whether that resulted from past experiences or just because they couldn't relate. As one of our first desires for MCC was to be seeker-friendly, and since God has been directing those with little to no church history to us, the new Pastor needs be aware of this and keep this in mind in leading and teaching the people who attend Monett Community Church. Sunday morning should be spent encouraging and motivating people and a time to recharge the battery as we use our Connections hour, small groups, and other Bible study groups to development and training up individuals.

While the pastor will serve as the primary communicator through both regular biblical teaching on Sundays and casting vision, we want him to understand that he is not expected to be the sole minister in the church but will be partnering with the elders at MCC as a leader among equals in the matters of the health and long-term vision at MCC. This individual will work with the music leadership to plan and conduct worship services and deliver sermons that are relevant, challenging, and life giving. This individual will likely be gifted in leadership teaching and exhortation, so as to provide and communicate vision and direction to the staff and congregation for the equipping of leaders from within the church to implement that vision.  While being open and willing to meet with church members, he should take advantage of the Stephen Ministers and other resources as needed.

The pastor will also be a representative of the church in the community and should look to ways to involve himself and the church into the community such as the Ministerial Alliance group that works to promote the cooperative effort between churches for the furthering of Christ’s kingdom.

What We Are Searching For:

This person needs to be forward thinking in providing direction for the church with a willingness to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit for MCC, even if this would seem to break from traditions (slaughtering some sacred cows), both his and those of the church.

The candidate will lead the church in evangelism and discipleship with a heart to see people who have not heard the gospel be transformed into fully-committed followers of Jesus. The ideal candidate will work to ensure the health and stability of the congregation through organizational direction and administrative oversight, while shepherding and attending to the needs of the people as they are met through the various ministries of the church. This individual should bring energy to his preaching and teaching. Someone who casts vision, who preaches the word in a way that challenges people to be more, to grow more, to pursue service, and as the scripture says, "to live lives worthy of the calling”. This person needs to have a strong Bible knowledge and a personal commitment to biblical Christian principles and teachings with a desire to teach members not just what the Bible says, but how to study the Bible for themselves.

Qualifications:

  • Biblically qualified to be an Elder, according to I Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.

  • Bachelor degree / Theological education

  • 3-5 or more years of experience as a pastor or a church staff member leading a ministry

  • Excellent organizational skills and willingness to learn and adapt to a changing environment

  • Some counseling experience is preferred, though it is not the primary focus of the position
