Director of Music and Worship Ministries

Job Description:

The Director of Music and Worship Ministries must have a servant’s heart and provide oversight to the entire music ministry of the church. This position will manage the planning and execution of all musical components of worship and other special events as needed, including, but not limited to: selection and arrangement of music, development and training of volunteer worship leaders, and recruitment and training volunteers for bands and choirs. The Director will also be a key contributor in the weekly worship planning process.

Overview:

  • Serves as an integral part of the Worship Design team
  • Leads multiple groups (choirs, praise band, ensembles) in Sunday morning worship and other church events and activities, as well as weekly rehearsals
  • Lead children's music ministry and children's choir, as well as weekly rehearsals
  • Lead youth music ministry during youth group activities and events
  • Recruit, develop, direct and equip volunteers for choirs, praise band, ensembles and special events
  • Recruit and manage external instrumentalists and performers as required for services and events
  • Work with senior pastor, staff and volunteers on worship planning
  • Manage music and worship budget

Requirements:

  • Committed follower of Jesus Christ that can articulate faith development and show and share fruit of spiritual practices
  • Adherence to basic tenets of Wesleyan theology
  • Degree in Music, Worship Leadership or related field preferred
  • Musical proficiency with at least one instrument, not including voice
  • Ability to read, transcribe and arrange both traditional and contemporary worship music
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and equip culturally diverse groups of volunteers and staff
  • Excellent communications and relational skills
  • Strong technical familiarity with audio/visual systems, lighting and video creation
  • Experience with MediaShout, ProPresenter and Planning Center a definite plus
