FUNCTION: This position is for the development and promotion of Christian education for Nursery to 6th Grade. This position covers many tiers of education and merging/developing education curriculums. This position’s goal is to educate children resulting in Christ-like fellowship and a deeper Christian worldview. He/she must recognize gifts in and enlist volunteer nursery directors, nursery workers, teachers/assistant teachers and/or potential teachers/assistant teachers, guide their development process so that they are effectively used in the educational ministry. Pay range will vary according to education and/or ministry experience from $11.00 to $14.00 per hour.

EXPECTATIONS: The Children’s Director must be a self-starter who is able to work independently, yet, able to receive instruction and constructive criticism. This person should also be able to organize and delegate responsibility in order to be effective in their overall direction of the Children's Ministry. He/she should be able to prepare and select appropriate curriculum for each age level. He/she must be a team builder who can affirm active teachers, recognize emerging teachers and develop a consensus on curriculum and method with his/her teachers. Must also be a team player who relates productively to the other ministries of Grace Fellowship. He/she must possess a good Christian testimony on and off church property; good physical condition; a working command of general office skills; ability to organize assigned duties; demonstrate good work habits; reliable and faithful in attendance during work and worship; relate well to the fellowship; ability to recognize and maintain confidential information; display a gracious and service-oriented attitude toward guests. This person must have an external focus as well as an internal one. Therefore, he/she should develop strategies of reaching out to the community to bring children into a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Ministry experience preferred or college degree.

1. Plan, organize and involve the fellowship in the execution and participation in a comprehensive
Christian education experience encompassing Sunday morning and mid-week programs/activities.
2. Maintain and, where necessary, update Christian education skills by keeping informed of church educational methods, materials, technologies and motivational techniques.
3. Evaluate and enhance the curriculum on an ongoing basis.
4. Identify, enlist, train and evaluate people with the gift of teaching at all levels.
5. Plan and coordinate educational related workshops, clinics, and other similar activities.
6. Enlist and train educational leaders who are able to provide support to the various age groups.
7. Act as budget manager for the formulation and allocation of the children’s education budget.
8. Provide liaison as the staff interface for the Nursery to 6th Grade, programs and ministries.
9. Make personal contact with members and attendee prospects as assigned by the Youth and/or Senior
10. Favorably represent Grace Fellowship in the community.
11. Actively participate in the formulation of the future educational vision of the church.
12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Youth and/or Senior Pastor.
13. Help with the transition of moving from 6th to 7th grade by coordinating with the Youth Pastor
during their “graduating year”.
14. Help with ideas in getting “young” families to worship at Grace Fellowship, such as helping in child
care (babysitting) through a voucher program, volunteers, etc.
15. Create and oversee an after-school program whereby children are introduced to Jesus Christ and to
Grace Fellowship. This program would function as a "feeder" into the overall ministry of Grace
16. Coordinate children friendly events at Grace and in the community.
